There are some in my party, including Leader McCarthy, who continue to act as though this is about partisan politics, I think it's really sad. I think it's a disgrace, she told ABCs George Stephanopoulos.
"The American people deserve to know what happened every minute of that day," Cheney said, accusing some Republicans of trying to "whitewash" the assault.
She also said the committee might subpoena McCarthy over what he told then-President Donald Trump as the riot unfolded -- and possibly Trump himself.

(58,601 posts)great for "feels" and all, but hell just play the videos of what they've said into the Congressional Record.
Most especially, get the clips of McCarthy immediately after the rebellion, and juxtapose them with what he's been saying lately.
Hell, those are already in the Record since he said most of it in the well of the House. Call them up and play them at the hearings.
Their duplicity and coddling of traitors is there for all to see.

(14,164 posts)If her gamble works.
I can see it. The gamble is that eventually, enough Republicans, the most sane of them, will finally conclude that they can't go along with the Trumpist circus anymore. And/or that Trump himself will finally say or do something too far. (Yeah, I know, how much more lower can he go?) Maybe a criminal conviction.
But that the old Reaganist, moderate Republicans will say enough is enough.
What also has to happen is Rs losing in 2022. And then she will run in a primary against Trump and/or other Trumpians for 2024, with the message that they won't win without new leadership. And if that doesn't do it, and they lose in 2024 with a Trumpian candidate or even the fat orange fucker himself if he does run again, she is counting on that to be the final straw, with herself as the shining warrior leader for good old conservative values. And Rs can go back to their traditional roles of attacking the socialist agenda of the Democrats.
Of course if the Trumpublicans win back the House and Senate in 2022, her gamble has basically failed. But then also, we are all screwed.
She may position herself as the best option, if she does win that primary, for not only Republicans, but for Independents, and dare I say, a contingent of more conservative Democratic party voters. Especially if Biden's health puts him out, and the D candidate is painted successfully as a scary commie. And or black and commie, like Kamala Harris.

She is a horrid human being and can't believe how everyone is fluffing her up, especially Pelosi. Just because she is a female should have absolutely nothing to do with it. I know we are not privy to backdoor deals but she needs to be fought tooth and nail if she even thinks of running as president. She can be as horrible as TFG, if not worse, because she actually reads and comprehends.

(1,849 posts)Because they're a viscous lot. And they cheat, and they're (mostly) playing a game to win, while Dems are (mostly) trying to serve constituents and the greater good.
Like many here, I never expected to be cheering a repug on. But in this case, I say Go Liz! Go after them, try to expose and clean the slime out of your house. Giving credit where credit is due, I have to somewhat admire her and any in her party who don't fall and fawn over tfg, who dispute the big lie and speak out, and who demonstrate an iota of conscience. There aren't many. The party is soulless and she's an avenging demon! She's playing hardball, on our (bipartisan) team at the moment. So at this moment I'm cheering her on. (Feels like I've entered the twilight zone.)

(9,107 posts)unless they are planning to pursue perjury charges against Trump (he WILL perjure himself if put under oath and questioned before Congress) it is not worth giving him the national platform.
There is no reason to give TFG television time to spew his lies unless it can lead directly to jail time.
