'ARE YOU A PEDOPHILE!?' Matt Gaetz & Marjorie Taylor Greene Flee Presser After Hecklers Shut It Down

A press conference by Republican House members including Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) ended abruptly on Tuesday as protesters swarmed the scene.

The event was held outside the Justice Department and centered on “demanding answers” from Attorney General Merrick Garland about the treatment of those who had been arrested in connection with January’s unrest in Washington, D.C. It was besieged from the start by a man loudly blowing a whistle as the members of Congress attempted to speak. The man, standing just feet behind an apparent member of the media, persisted despite a confrontation with the hapless journalist, who pleaded with him to refrain.

As Greene took the podium, protesters wielding signs stormed the stand and the lawmakers surrounding it, which included Gaetz in addition to Reps. Louie Gohmert (TX) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ).

Gohmert briefly took the podium as his colleagues hurriedly shuffled away and most of the protesters followed them. “For those of you that really care about due process, thank you,” Gohmert said.

Founded in 2015 by Joe Seales, Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) is a website that links to videos on both Youtube and Rumble. The videos usually pertain to former President Donald Trump, such as unedited footage of his rallies as well as interviews with conservative guests. A Right Side Broadcasting Network reporter was granted White House press credentials during the Trump Administration.

In March 2021, RSBN was suspended from Youtube for two weeks for publishing Donald Trump’s CPAC speech, which contained numerous falsehoods and conspiracy theories.

In general, RSBN promotes Donald Trump and his policies. They also routinely publish conspiracy theories and propaganda that is favorable to Trump and his movement. For example, during the 2020 election, they frequently published election fraud misinformation, see above and below in failed fact checks. They also frequently interview guests who have poor track records with facts such as Charlie Kirk, Diamond and Silk, and Kayleigh McEnany.

The Week is reporting the story with no attribution to another source or to a wire service, so it appears they were there as well.

What I didn't see was video of the usual gaggle of reporters and microphones in front of the podium that one often sees at a press conference.

GQP & former GQP talking heads on for confirmation bias. The only show I watch now is The Rachel Maddow Show - in the last month or so she has become so goofy, laughing at inappropriate news items that it makes you think she is drunk or something.

Ever since they hired that new president, the entire channel has slid downhill. It doesn't help that Morning Joe is in charge of the talking points of the entire day's programming, so no huge surprise that it's almost entirely GQP now.

So this protest against the idiots Greene and Gaetz was loud and in your face, and potentially obnoxious but it was peaceful. They rushed the GOP snowflakes away because...

Similarly, the guy who came up to Greene and Gaetz on the beach in California. Silly, but peaceful

Katie Porter had an event in her district and the guy who is challenging her for the seat in 2022, showed up, not to "confront" her as he stated but to disrupt the event (which was about vaccination and health care). His people started a fight and were at risk of injuring elderly people who were at the event. Porter herself rushed in and got in between one of the disruptors and a woman who was at risk for harm.

This is a contrast in character for both the protestors AND the congress people.

GOP protestors and politicians are bully cowards.

16. One of the purposes of the Greene-Gaetz press conference was to present an "alternate facts"

event that OANN, Fox, Newsmax, RT, and RSBN could broadcast in lieu of the Congressional hearings as the major news of the day. While the disruption may have been obnoxious, so was the general tone and message of the members of Congress who showed up in an effort to derail the impact of the opening day of sworn testimony.

It was an open event in a public place, and the public showed up to let its views be known. They exposed the Greenes, Gomerts, and Gaetzes for exactly what they are: bullies who back down and run away.

Troll the trolls is an excellent tactic.

Contrary to their usual stance on law and order, the elected officials wanted the world to know how unfair it was to punish violent thugs who did absolutely nothing wrong except attempt a violent overthrow of the government at Greene and Gaetz’s behest.

It did not go well.
