yea, they support the police: mcconnell & mccarthy did not watch the 1/6 committee hearing today.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) both said they did not watch Tuesday’s opening hearing of the select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The panel probing the January riot convened for the first time on Tuesday to hear testimony from four police officers who worked to shield the Capitol from the mob of Trump supporters.

“Leader McConnell, did you watch any of the hearing today?” a reporter asked during a Senate Republican leadership press conference.

“No, I didn’t,” he responded.

I'm enraged and I wasn't anywhere near the Capitol that day. I can't imagine how betrayed they feel.

about America, about democracy, about the truth.

They lust after power and money, exactly what Jesus warned them about.

The GOP will roast in Hell, many people say.

Something I think needs to be considered is how staff will react to all this. Don't ever think they don't feel a certain sort of way about being at work with this shit going on, and their bosses saying it was not worth their attention. While I do not mean to say that any of the staffers are disloyal, I do think that more than a few eyes were forced open that day.

This is purely anecdotal, but one of the kids that my daughter played with and grew up with (those kids were all in and out of the various houses and yards) is a staffer for the local GOP Congressman. She was not in DC that day because she was back here in his local office working on a project. She was absolutely shaken by the phone calls she got from the staffers she's friends with back in DC. I know this kid and she's tough and smart. If it got to her, I'll guarantee there were others.
