Unlike the other strains, which are insignificant in the nasal passages of vaccinated people, the delta strain can remain in the nasal passages of vaccinated people, which wont likely infect the vaccinated, but be transmitted to the non-vaccinated
I hope this is reported by the press, to shut jackasses like rand Pauls misinformation up
Post three in this thread explained it clearer:
What he said is that if you are vaccinated and get a breakthrough infection you have enough viral load to pass it on unvaccinated people.
He did not say that if you are vaccinated you can infect other people, only if you have gotten a breakthrough infection.
Now of course since some of these people might be asymptomatic, it is still very worrisome.

(6,137 posts)this is what Id like to get clarity for delta variant. I dont personally know anyone not vaccinated so I havent been cautious around fully vaccinated folks but now I am concerned.

(31,261 posts)that even a fully vaxxed person who catches it can pass it on (and they may not notice that they are).

(6,679 posts)Pass it, yes but not enough data to state the chance. Put them in a hospital? Maybe, but very small chance most likely.

(31,261 posts)Unless the other vaccinated person is immunocompromised, they should be ok. Unvaxxed people and children under 12 years old may not be ok.
I believe that even if your are vaxxed wearing a mask as much as possible when around others is a good idea.

(22,632 posts)This data is holding true with the exponentially growing number of cases. Masks equally protect you and others.
We don't just need to wear them to protect ourselves (vaccinated or not) they also provide protection for others (vaccinated or not) by helping stop the spread in cases of asymptomatic carriers.
Delta, according to the NSW study, is easily passed by fleeting contact with an infected person. The mask is the first line of defense in these cases, which make up more than 80% of cases in some places.

(6,679 posts)If I have it asymptomatic and pass to unvaxxed, they could die. As a patriotic American and caring citizen of the world, I am willing to do my part.
Not to mention all the medical staff having to gear up again - with an even deadlier variant. I hope we don't break them.
