A Napa natural wine company called Dry Farm Wines is inviting prospective candidates to come join their "Family" for pretty standard career opportunities like "warehouse buyer" and "senior accountant." Pretty straightforward.
But the job posting for the compliance manager posted last Wednesday has gone viral on Twitter, and not because thousands of people are interested in applying.
"This is the most stressful job posting I've ever seen in my life," begins a thread by @clapifyoulikeme on Twitter Wednesday. And ... she's not wrong.
This is the most stressful job posting I've ever seen in my life and you will never in a million years guess what's it for. pic.twitter.com/UVOlzTcMcK

(64,413 posts)I've been in big box stores during that early morning gathering of staff.
Hearing it seemed ok until the chants & cheers start.
My thoughts were always "They have to do this hokey stuff every day?"

One should learn the difference between "your" and "you're" in third grade or sooner.

(15,018 posts)As in you embody attention to detail so much that attention to detail isn't just something you have, but something you ARE!

(15,018 posts)...and I never have to pretend to give a damn about any of the shit employers look for in interviews and annual assessments.
I actually like my job fairly well, and I'm good at it. I take pride in producing quality work.
But if I suddenly had enough money to retire (and thankfully, I'm not that far off), I'd try to be decent and give two weeks notice, but I'm not even sure about that. I work because they pay me, and I want that money. End of story.
I'm not "passionate about the mission". I'm actually comfortable at the level of job I have and really don't give a crap about "career development" the way I'm apparently supposed to. I'm an introvert, and don't want to join in on company social activities.

(64,413 posts)I had a pretty sizeable staff, and it gave them plenty of time to pick the right person to promote, transition slowly, and let me pass on knowledge I had yet to share.
Actually, it only took 12.5 months to complete all that so I got paid the last 2.5 months for showing up!
That was some effortless glide path!
Besides, since I retired well before Medicare eligibility, it reduced the time I'd have to cover healthcare coverage.
Thankfully, August is my last month of private coverage. For September, I go Medicare & supplementals.
Frees up a grand a month!
I was ready to go, but I wouldn't have felt right about giving them just 2 weeks. I was treated well in my years there.

(8,933 posts)Not these people specifically. Although, I might do. SIL's partner is friends with a lot of winery owners whom I've met.
But I live next to Napa. A lot of friends and in-laws there, and I spend no minor amount of time hanging about the area. I know this type. I have met this type often.
My background is working class, down to earth, unassuming Midwesterner. When I relocated here many moons ago, I had a phrase for these types. "Wacky Californians" It's just a specific type of person who's into all sorts of goofy, holistic, astrological, meditative, deep spiritual connection, alternative medicine craziness. I don't mean as side hobbies or interests. I mean as a Type A, full-speed ahead, making professional decisions based upon, I will recruit everyone into my insanity if it kills me," kinds of people. (They're also often anti-vaxxers, fyi).
I am always on the look out for these types, because they absolutely slay me. When I realize I'm about to have a conversation with one, I get all excited, feet moving up and down like an engaged puppy. My partner just rolls his eyes and walks away. When I worked in East Bay (specifically Berkeley), I met them all the time.
But this is sheer gloriousness. This is the pinnacle of my long search for Wackiest Californian. Finally. It is done. I have seen the Wackiest Californians.
And now I can rest.

(9,010 posts)There is just too much woo with some of them.
They remind me of the religious people I've met who try to push their religion on you/convert you. If you give them an ounce of time (out of politeness), they will back off a little and then try with all their might to befriend you into submission and their way of thinking. Creeps me out!
