I think she was quiet for a while to let her last idiocy blow over.

(4,845 posts)It's just that twisting the meaning of the word fits their agenda and they do it to everything. Words and facts have no real meaning to republicans anymore. They just make it to fit their agenda as they see fit.

I guess she would argue that Medicare requires seniors to remain dependent on the Capitalist system of healthcare until we die. I start Medicare September 1st, and I am enrolled in Part A and Part B, because the guy that enrolled me in Social Security also enrolled me in those. I am at a loss, however, to differentiate between Medicare Advantage plans and 'Medigap' plans, to avoid giving my Part A and B money to the for-profit death merchants.

(2,636 posts)Medicare Advantage is NOT medicare, but a private insurer's alternative to medicare--they administer for you.
My husband has a Plan G. He's a math guy, ran the numbers, it was the best deal for him. Get Plan G, he said....
Plan G rates are set at age of attainment--I am fortunate to have medicare in my early 50s because I was unfortunate enough to have two heart attacks and CHF before 50. Plan G rates for me were exorbitant. They assume since I'm younger, I'm much sicker.
Medicare Advantage proved to be the best deal for me.
You'll have to, and I hate to even use this phrase anymore, do the research and price things out based on your typical medical needs + what ifs.

Doing the research is way above my pay grade. I didn't even know it was called Plan G.
My ex is convinced her best deal is Medicare Advantage. I can't get any help from her because, no matter what I get, it isn't going to be MA, and she doesn't see the pitfalls of it.

I think Medicare gives you six months because it takes about five to figure out what to do.

(37,157 posts)It uses the same words as conventional English, but has Calvinball rules about definitions.
They have their own vocabulary, grammar and spelling rules.
It can be very confusing if all you know is English.

Medicare and Medicare fall under the wildly-expansive conservativese definition of "socialist".

(11,725 posts)This is what you need to know about right wing thinking.
Right wingers have a very simple agenda. "Put my group into power"
Everything else is very fluid. They will use any means to "put my group into power". How they define "my group" is fluid, although there are some definite ranges. The group should be "White" predominantly male, and Christian (preferably Protestant), straight, etc...
Right wingers claim to be "rational" but they operate almost exclusively on emotion and symbolism likely because their ideology is irrational and based on false assumptions.
Basically you can expect a right winger to say almost anything within a framework. They do not care about contradiction, fallacious thinking, hypocrisy, etc... because the ends justify the means.

That's an aggressive, bordering on belligerent, level of stupidity she's displaying. Top form really.

(11,725 posts)Greene and Boebert, Gohmert and Biggs are likely too stupid to actually know what socialism is. They just repeat the buzzwords.
Stefanik is smarter. One of her Democratic colleagues, who I think went to school with her, was talking about how her transformation into a right wing hack was surprising because she used to show a level of intelligence that would have precluded the stupid rhetoric she is using now. He called her craven, I believe.

(21,841 posts)In fact, to further protect Medicare from socialism, lets strengthen it to include dental, vision, hearing, & mental healthcare and then allow all Americans to enjoy its benefits.
Trust me, Medicare for All is the #1 thing you can do to own the socialists.
