https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/73021-0Washington, D.C. Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Biden Administrations Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion directing the Treasury Department to comply with the law and accede to Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richie Neals request to release Donald Trumps tax returns to the Ways and Means Committee:
Today, the Biden Administration has delivered a victory for the rule of law, as it respects the public interest by complying with Chairman Neals request for Donald Trumps tax returns. As Speaker, on behalf of the House of Representatives, I applaud Chairman Neal for his dignified pursuit of the truth and the Biden Administration Department of Justice for its respect for the law.
Access to former President Trumps tax returns is a matter of national security. The American people deserve to know the facts of his troubling conflicts of interest and undermining of our security and democracy as president.
The House will always fight to expose the truth For The People.

(31,965 posts)The New York Times was given 18 years of returns, 1999-2017 almost a year ago. They did not hide them, they ran some articles on them.

(488 posts)seen his returns. Remember an article that stated and showed from his returns that he had lost around $100 million a year, the most anyone had ever lost in history. I'll look for that and get back.

(1,910 posts)The NY Times did not get all the attachments which flesh out all his corporations. They also have no power to investigate and subpoena people like Congress will.

(31,965 posts)Nixon was brought down by the Washington Post, not Congress. The Times did investigate and ran some articles.

(12,375 posts)His followers will always believe them over the New York Times. Also they reported that Trump owns hundreds of millions of dollars in valuable assets, but they do not reveal his true wealth. Nor do they reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.
