What is up with the spam calls all the sudden?

Seemed like they dropped way off for awhile, but the last couple days they've been non stop.

But since most of these originate outside the US (per Nomorobo) they don’t care about penalties that will never be imposed on them.

5. So far today I have received calls from

The IRS, The Social Security Administration, The Federal Reserve, along with various car warranty calls.

6. I win several free medical devices each day.

All from spoofed local numbers. When I press #1 to accept the device (really to verbally kick someone’s ass) the recording says “the number you have dialed is not in service, goodbye.” So weird.

7. I noticed it too.

I always screen but I still have to hear the message, etc. It has been going on since I was 25. Did Reagun have something to do with this? Why can't it be stopped?

8. I remember back in the day it was only on your house phone

the calls would come in but not on the cell. Got rid of my house phone but get as many or more now on my cell.

9. I rarely use my cell phone

but the callers have been getting that number too. The thing is that since I don't use it so how do they get my number? I use it maybe twice a month...it is for emergencies or if I go out and may need it. When I do look at it there is a TON of missed calls.

10. Verizon recently installed something that labels a lot of calls as spam. It doesn't stop them though

And they show some phony number placing the call. I never pick up if I don’t recognize the number and block them afterwards it it doesn’t any good.

11. I get them continuously so many I can hardly use my phone.

I have to keep the phone turned off so they don't continually interrupt me from getting things done. Then when I turn it on I find call after call from scammers and a couple important ones that I missed.
