This has been a hell of a week for Mein Trump
Trump tax returns on the way to congress. Check
Trump told his toadies to sack the infrastructure bill and they ignored him. Check
Trump endorsed candidate in Texas loses bigly. Check.
Trumps seditious conspiracy to overturn the election has been confirmed by the DoJ, with evidence. Check.
Loss of power? Potentially. Legal woes? Definitely.
For a bonus wobble Trump and the kids dont get to hide the details of their involvement in a fraudulent pyramid scheme (popcorn time when it finally gets to court!), and all against the backdrop of the commission exposing MAGA legislators for the horror filled shitshow they are.
I know the most committed of the cult will see all of this and think it nought, but for the rest that still cling the carcass of the republican party, surely the clown car is starting to look for shaky indeed.

(12,592 posts)has lost the popular vote twice, lost the house, lost the senate, been impeached twice might not be the person they want to follow.
Add to this all the things that you pointed out, there is a very good chance he will be thrown overboard except by so few Trumpers that it won't make any difference.

(58,785 posts)and we've gotten a lot better at treating it. They'll almost all still be available to vote in 2022.
However, more should finally become alarmed and aware. Might even lessen tRump's power of enchantment for some. Or not.

July 27, 2016.
Why that line didn't ring alarm bells all over the country is beyond me.
The HRC campaign should have lit the lamp for days.
Obama DOJ. What were they thinking? I know ... he'll never make it, we've got this.
But most Democrats on the ground knew we were in trouble. From April 1, 2016.
But we're up and running now!

Prof. Toru Tanaka
(1,944 posts)He insulted a veteran who was a POW. He called Vietnam vets suckers and losers. There are plenty of veterans who still support him.
He has insulted women relentlessly. There are still plenty of female Trump supporters.
His attacks on the Capitol police likely will not affect the strong support he has among law enforcement.
With his supporters, his insults and bad behavior just don't matter; in fact they revel in it because they are just as twisted, hateful and self-centered as he is.
His cult worships him even though he looks down on them with contempt.

(58,785 posts)of evil liberalism itself, and we're still here. This stuff is irrelevant to those who believe they have to smash us into oblivion, and who still need a Der Leader to do it.
As for the less-crazy tRump voters, some were disillusioned by truth in 2016 and 2020, but by far most betrayed all their claimed beliefs to vote for him twice despite everything. This should weaken loyalty to him, but then I thought finding out his campaign was full of Russian (commie) agents in 2016 would do that.

(1,910 posts)Dems too focused on Trump and his cronies, meanwhile Repugs gut voting rights, Dems lose some black enthusiasm, Desantis is able to keep most of Trump base, Desantis can add a few suburbanites by acting more rational than Trump, we lose it all in 2024.
Desantis is getting hammered now cause of Covid....but that could be a distant memory in voters minds by 2024.

(1,910 posts)Dems way too focused on Trump while the Repugs are playing chess. It is irrelevant what happens with Trump in the bigger picture.
Like a post above said, they will simply switch to Desantis. While we focus on getting the Trumps, they are focused on making sure Repug legislatures can overturn county results.
Also there are more and more editorials and noise in the black community that Biden and the Dems are not fighting enough for voting rights. We have even a small down tick in black enthusiasm and we lose in 2022 and 2024 and its all over.
We need to laser focus on voting rights. So we end up with Trump indicted, the Repugs now circle over to another slightly less polarizing candidate. Not a good strategy for Dems.
