GOP lawmaker who once spurned masks urges people to take covid-19 seriously after eight-month illness

A Tennessee legislator who went from unmasked gatherings with fellow legislators to being placed on ventilator days later has emerged with a message for constituents after a harrowing eight-month experience with long-haul covid-19:

Take the coronavirus seriously.

“It is a disease that wants to kill us,” state Rep. David Byrd (R) said in a statement Friday. Byrd, 63, described an ordeal that included 55 days on a ventilator in which covid-19 ravaged his memory, his muscles and his organs — it led to him having a liver transplant in June; his condition was so grave that his family at least once began planning for his funeral. Stressing that covid-19 is real and “very dangerous,” Byrd encouraged people to get vaccinated.

“This is not an issue that should divide us,” he wrote.

Before Byrd became ill around Thanksgiving, his attitude about the novel coronavirus, which can cause the disease covid-19, included a June 2020 vote for a resolution that accused the “mainstream media” of sensationalizing pandemic coverage. In November, he was among the House Republican Caucus members who gathered for an in-person multiday retreat amid surging infections statewide.

There is usually a waiting list for organs. If he jumped the line who has or is going to die because of it?

5. Yes. The liver has a remarkable ability to regenerate in healthy persons.

From the Donate Life website:

A living donor’s liver fully regrows within 4 months and will ultimately regain full function. The donated portion does the same for the recipient. A liver from a deceased donor may also be split and transplanted into 2 recipients.

The base hates us way more than they hate or fear the virus.

DeSatan and trump are using that, well trump isnt knowingly, he is too stupid to knowingly do anything.

There is no way this country survives this and most of us will be harmed or killed by them eventually.

It causes liver toxicity in humans.

Farm stores are selling out of the horse worm drug, Ivermectin, after Fox News promoted it as a miracle COVID cure… many people have already died after taking it due to liver toxicity

(the FDA says do NOT under any circumstances take unapproved drugs outside of clinical trials)

Michael Flynn's brother is currently taking it and got banned from Twitter last night after promoting it's use .

Republiscum/teabaggers/trumptrash used to constantly rant for a race war, and I would always respond by telling them to be careful what they wished for--they wouldn't like it if they got it.

Then the race war became replaced by "let it just wash over us." The response didn't change, but who cares? They don't listen.
