.... Asked on Monday for his assessment, Toobin spoke of how the White House and the Justice Department have procedures in place in order to prevent the exertion of undue influence when individual cases are discussed between the two.
Those policies are not laws, they are not binding, they are simply norms, rules that all administrations have decided to follow to avoid all sorts of appearances of impropriety, Toobin said. So its not a crime what Donald Trump did, I think. But, it is wildly inappropriate. And you know, good for these Justice Department officials, political appointees for not following his advice. ....
The problem is that once Trump has done this if other presidents want to do it, it is a precedent that they can follow and say look, you know, Im in charge of the Justice Department. I can tell them what to do,' Toobin said. Thats what happened in Watergate, and thats what subsequent presidents have tried to avoid.
The conversation continued with Toobin speaking of how Trump broke these presidential norms in order to advance his lie that the 2020 election was corrupted by mass fraud. The conversation comes after Trump lashed out at the House Oversight Committee while claiming that the Donoghue notes show him trying to protect the election.

(1,364 posts)Didn't he expose himself while talking to coworkers on a Zoom call? This was no mistake...nor could it "happen to any one". These are the actions of a sexual predator and I believe you will find other disturbing behaviors in his past - just my opinion.

(36,423 posts)GA SOS is not DOJ. It's a very different position, & I'm pretty sure that phone call to Raffensperger is covered under election laws.
I just want to find 11,780 votes: In extraordinary hour-long call, Trump pressures Georgia secretary of state to recalculate the vote in his favor

(58,785 posts)but why not? The issue is whether tRump's pressure on the DoJ was illegal, not whether it has something to do with masturbation. Jackoff Toobin said he knows the difference between the two and believes it was not.

(70,646 posts)It's not about Drumpf, but rather whether TOOBIN is uttlerly damaged and irrelevant as a commentator on *any* issue.
You seem to be critical of the thread, seeming to focus on Drumpf's activity, "not ... masturbation", yet you proceed to use "Jackoff".
My impetus for posting was from his daring to use the word "inappropriate" given his history. I aimed for a bit of humor. My topic was not Drumpf, because there are tons of threads about him and because I share massive agreement with almost everybody that just about anything he has ever done has criminal, deplorable, troglodyte dimensions - nothing new there.
Sincerely, I don't know where you're coming from in your post.
