(15,325 posts)..was too much too ask some members who's own lives were protected by the ultimate committment to oath of the Cap Police.
Cap Police were there to protect again, for the big sleepover on the Cap steps, cameras rolling, staged "eviction campaign".
Thanks Cap Police.
Sorry bout the one you lost today.
Still not worthy of funding but.. but..here's our deepest condolences.

(3,483 posts)They may be very much just tales of human tragedy, but why these particular policemen?
There have been countless cops involved in all kinds of civil unrest, mass shootings, and other tragedies, even in officer-related murders, but I can't recall stories about lots of them killing themselves.
Anyone have any insight?

(17,187 posts)work I assume they trained for. Is it possible these are the Capitol Police who were friendly to the insurrectionists?
And maybe feel guilty about not getting Mike Pence & Nancy Pelosi killed so Der Orange Führer had his reason
to overthrow our government? Was the threat of death hanging over their heads if they didn't succeed in
crowning him king Jan 7th? Lots of questions, few real answers.

(61,588 posts)Yes, they trained for this. Nobody can train for how they've been treated since that day.

(14,061 posts)Apparently the officer who killed himself was Japanese-American. Im sure he got the same verbal abuse that the African-American officer got probably worse, because these moronic monsters probably assumed he was Chinese and were taking out their anger over COVID on him. (And just where would they have gotten that idea?)
None of us repeat NONE have any idea of what it was like to be a police officer on Capitol Hill that day. If you must engage in conspiracy, look at those who have since turned a blind eye to Jan, 6, and ask yourself just why that is.
Bottom line the trauma of that day is taking its toll, and to imply or speculate on any other unseemly motives behind these deaths is uncalled for and, quite frankly, repellent.
Done with this thread.

and then wants to kill you with the flag, metal bars, etc., can fuck with a person. That, plus the all-out barbarity of what they were fighting in hand-to-hand combat. That, plus actually defending the Capitol, the order of law, and democracy itself.
And really, we have no idea what cops in other situations have wound up doing, or how long they mentally struggled with what happened to them. Causes of death, especially suicides, tend to be kept private. The police here dont even have that.

(20,755 posts)STUDY: Police more likely to die by suicide than in line of duty
Two among many.
It's not a conspiracy, mysterious cover-up deaths, etc. It's the sad nature of things as they are these days. Bad enough without looking for hidden evil... there's plenty right out there.

(24,263 posts)It's entirely possible that this Officer's suicide had nothing to do with 1/6. Could be any number of things that happened before or after that.

(64,971 posts)My BiL had a serious head injury in the early 70s.
He's not been psychologically right since.
Not a danger to himself, but not able to properly care for himself.
Per my wife, (I met him years after this happened) he was a completely typical 21 year old in 1970. Never the same since.

We have NO idea how many more are suffering.

200-300 cops commit suicide a year, more than who are KIA each year.

(3,856 posts)It's tragic news when anyone decides to end their life. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
I would caution anyone trying to attribute a reason for his decision, especially if it to try to score online political points. We have no idea why Officer Hashida made the decision he did and claiming otherwise is disrespectful to the deceased and his family.
