There needs to be some really, really stiff sentences handed out or we will go through the same thing again. Slaps on tne wrists demeans what they went through that day.

Jan 6 and its aftermath was a dishonor to their service, their very profession. More understanding is needed.

mostly people of one political persuasion/party.

I bet it's harder for them to recruit new officers too. probably some resignations and early retirements.
