Is everyone else seeing this?
Cuomo is outa here
Trump will get indicted in NYS
Trump/GOP will try to get a republican governor in to replace him
Trump gets pardoned in NYS
the best bet for Democrats IMHO is to have Cuomo resign ASAP and get the Hochul (current Lieutenant gov) in there immediately so she can establish herself as an incumbent and fight off attempts to get a GOP governor in NYS, who's main/sole purpose will be to protect trump from prosecution
I guarantee trump and GOP are licking their chops at this and see it as one of the only ways to keep trump out of serious trouble and they will put everything they have into finding a viable candidate and lots of dirty tricks to get him in office.

Elise Stefanik kinda defines most of upstate-- she started out as a moderate R, but look at her now.

(9,939 posts)even if he doesn't, trump/GOP knows it is a very real possibility and getting a GOP governor in there is protection, whether or not it happens

(94,333 posts)Or perhaps President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Schumer, the entire State Legislature Leadership, the entire NY Congressional Delegation etc. just aren't as politically saavy as you are?

you're also incorrect. my only point is that trump is going to try to get an R in office so he could be pardoned if he is indicted. you think that's dumb? it would be dumb if he didn't have that in mind.

Everyone he put in was a political hack.

(36,248 posts)As for TFG licking his chops, he may be but he did only get 37.74% of the vote in NY back in 2020. The odds of a well known TFG bootlicker winning the governorship is awfully small IMO.
