"SNIP......

A majority of Americans in a new poll think it would be bad for the country if former President Trump runs for office in 2024.

The survey, conducted by Quinnipiac University, found that 60 percent of respondents said it would be bad for the country if Trump were to launch a bid for president in 2024.

Thirty-two percent of respondents, however, said another Trump campaign would be good for the country.

......

Forty-nine percent of respondents polled said they think Trump will ultimately run for president in 2024, with 39 percent saying he will not. Twelve percent said they did not have an opinion.

The Electoral College, disproportionate representation in the Senate, gerrymandering, red state voter suppression, and big money influence combine to enable minority rule. The last two Republican presidents came to power while losing the popular vote.

Why is this even news? Since TFG rode the escalator down to kick off his campaign, the majority of Americans have been consistently saying that he would be bad for the country.

Apparently fully 40% of Americans think he was good for the country, and would be again.

I am reminded of Gerald Gardiner's "Who's In Charge Here?" when it first came out int he 1960s. One of the first books of satirical captions of photos of prominent people. One showed a serious scientist making an announcement that "Soviet scientists have proven that [radioactive] fallout is good for you." That's about how good Trump was, and would be if he came back.

In the past Trump has outperformed the polls. In both 2016 and 2020 the final election results saw him doing better than what an average of polls predicted.

32 out of 100 people in America think the sexual predating, lying, seditionist, covid-19 denying, racist, bigoted xenophobe is good for America. 32 out of 100?

I think back to 30, 40 years ago and imagine such a loaf of evil suet being offered up to the population at large. I don’t think 32 out of 100 would have thought it would be great to have that hateful and soulless creature in the White House -- especially for a 2nd term.

And I look at the numbers and have to assume that while 60% of us see this cold-hearted bastard for what he is, a total of 40% apparently think he’s at least OK?

I know 60% is better than 50%. But 40% are unable/unwilling to see what an awful mess Loser-45 has made of things and the continuing danger he presents to the freedoms and values of this country. That represents a formidable minority of a mixed bag of fascists, racists, bigots, sexists, and plutocrats -- and it’s very disturbing.

Worse, the Republicans, abetted by the vile 6 in SCOTUS, seem well on their way to destroying the vote in states they control, with serious and frightening ramifications for the 2022 and 2024 elections.
