You shouldn't miss this massive bombshell in Trump's ongoing election fraud lie

(CNN)Unless you have been living on another planet for the past six months, you know by now that Donald Trump leaned on state and national officials in the final days of his presidency to force investigations into made-up claims of widespread election fraud in the 2020 race.

But the story keeps getting worse -- as we learn more and more about the extremes that Trump-loyal officials were willing to go to in an attempt to overturn the election, with zero proof or evidence to do so.

The latest bombshell came Wednesday with the revelation that Jeffrey Clark, a top official at the Justice Department, composed a draft letter -- which he urged acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and acting deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue to sign onto -- that said the DOJ had "significant concerns that may have impacted of the outcome of the election in multiple States, including the State of Georgia."

"I think we should get it out as soon as possible," Clark urged, adding: "I see no valid downsides to sending out the letter."

The story is indisputably important and concerning. But, why o’ why does CNN have to present it with such a awful click-bait headline. Why not identify in the headline something relevant about the underlying subject matter of the so-called “bombshell”? I guess it is manipulation based on FOMO - fear of missing out. A reader sees the headline and clicks, not because he or she is interested in the subject, but because they fear being seen as not in possession of the latest and juiciest bits of scandalous news. CNN is first and foremost looking to capture your eyeballs and your clicks, not present a serious analysis of an important topic. Every time I see terms like “bombshell,” “unhinged,” etc. in a headline (especially in an analysis or opinion piece), I am immediately suspicious of the article. 9 times out of 10, it is an overblown rehash of some piece of news that is already days old. CNN tends to fall on my side of the line politically, but it is this sort of hyper but empty “journalism” that all too often leaves our media allies open to attack from the right.

Clark undoubtedly understood this was part of a coup and went along with it.

It is common practice throughout media. Some of it is dishonest too - when you read the actual article there is little to nothing to support the actual headline used by the writer. (I should add that is not the case in this article. There is plenty to support this headline.)
