the clear majority of the anti-vaxxers on social media:
---we are committed to strive for a government "of the people, by the people and for the people", NOT "of the people, by the mindless figurehead and for the elite few";
---we protect the right of the minority to be heard, but we authorize the majority to govern;
---the prevention of violent anarchy and survival of the fittest at the expense of the weak require us to curtail and regulate the rights of individuals---i.e., you are not "free" to drive on the sidewalk or on the left side of the street at whatever speed you choose;
---you are not "the People"; you are one of them;
---the MAJORITY HAS THE RIGHT, for the good of "the People", to REQUIRE that you pay taxes, educate your children, have a doctor's prescription before you use opioids---and get VACCINATED for covid or any other disease that poses a threat to our nation's citizens.
Most sane decent reasonable folks understand all the above. If you genuinely do not, you should be really pissed at those who misled you. You or someone you love may die because of those prople.

Similar confusion was shown in a thread that appeared earlier this morning too:
There's not one damn thing to "discuss" about whether everyone should be vaccinated
So let's go over this again. As things now stand, there will generally not be a requirement that everyone get vaccinated. That's because the vaccines still lack FDA approval.
What will generally be required of one is that he either gets vaccinated or is subject to regular (weekly, it looks like) testing or some other requirement. This seems to be the case for federal (and state?) civilian workers, workers in the private sector, and members of the military. If there's an exception, I'd like to hear about it.
Granted, things are constantly changing.
From those dimwits at the New York Times:
Employers, universities and local governments can all issue some type of vaccination requirement. Heres what to know about the mandates.

Millions of Americans have chosen not to get a coronavirus vaccine. But with the shots readily available and virus cases ticking back up in parts of the country, a growing number of employers, universities and businesses are now issuing some form of a vaccine requirement.
Under many of these orders, those who remain unvaccinated, including people who cant get a vaccine because of a disability or conflicting religious beliefs, will instead have to follow strict guidelines like regular Covid testing, masking and social distancing.
I think probably what these companies are thinking for those individuals requiring them to be masked, or constantly tested, is a reasonable accommodation, Joel Friedman, a law professor at Tulane University, said. And thats probably correct.
Another component of the shifting landscape on vaccines is their expected full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. The vaccines are currently administered under an emergency use authorization, so full approval could alleviate concerns over their safety and encourage even more organizations to make them a requirement.
{snip}
My guess is that businesses can set whatever policy they want, as long as it does not interfere with other rights. "No shirt, no shoes, no shots, no service."
What happens when a member of a religious order that does not believe in shots shows up at the door, is turned back, and then claims that he has been discriminated against on the basis of religion?
I haven't the slightest idea. I'm going to leave that up to the ACLU and the lawyers.
I apologize in advance for being insane, indecent, and unreasonable.
HTH
Thanks.
{edited, in light of Lowe's in Missouri}: If you work in an "at will" state, the employer might be able to say "get vaccinated or hit the road." I am not an employment lawyer.
{additional editing: Why experts say vaccine mandates are legal and more are on the way}
{edited on more time} The tweet about Lowe's turned out to be a fake.

(9,946 posts)thing. But, since we operate in a political climate where a minority of irresponsible, self-serving dumbasses rule, the ones who acted responsibly are forced to mask, distance and isolate, both for their own and others' protection. We have to treat these belligerent anti-vaxxers like the social lepers they are, not kowtow to their ignorance.
