On Friday's edition of MSNBC's "Deadline: White House," NBC4 reporter Scott MacFarlane, who has been extensively covering charges against the Capitol rioters, broke down the significance of new developments for anchor Nicolle Wallace.
"The Justice Department's really ending the week with a bang, two big plea deals," said MacFarlane. "Let me talk about Scott Fairlamb first. He is accused of assaulting D.C. police. Body camera shown in his court case offers compelling images of the alleged assault. Fairlamb's going to plead guilty to assault, being the first defendant to do so. He'll face about four years federal prison time when he is sentenced next month."
MacFarlane said that Fairlamb's plea could be a template that could encourage other MAGA rioters to strike deals.

(1,109 posts)I suspect that's an image of Mark Meadows (who served as 29th White House Chief of Staff from 2020 to 2021) when he was insurrecting on 6 January 2021. The real Scott Fairlamb is depicted in this NYT piece (here).

(17,082 posts)I'd consider 4 years to be at the bottom of what's appropriate.
Two months? This is a lame pathetic whimper, not a bang.
So, I don't understand- one paragraph says four years; further down it says two months. Which is it?

(15,265 posts)The one facing 4-5 years pleaded guilty to assault, presumably of a cop.
The other one who got 2 months pleaded guilted to trespassing/being in a restricted area, not sure what the correct legal term is. Several other have already pleaded guilty to the same charge, but this guy was the first one to have to serve prison time.
