And yes, it must have cost a fortune to fly her horse to Tokyo...alive!

But my parents just could not afford it. It was a very expensive hobby.

I did a lot of volunteer work for the equestrian Olympic team when I was a teenager. Some of those rich idiots were awful. But a few were really nice. I always thought of it as charity for the rich.

Some of those riders have groupies follow them around like rock stars. The women riders not so much.

Most equestrians don't reach their primes until their 30's and 40's. Some even compete in their 50's.

Her teammates McLain Ward and Laura Krautt are several-time Olympians.

Jessica is the future of this sport. I hope we see her in 2024 and 2028, as well as worlds and the Grand Prix circuit.

[VIDEO] 325 Horses Flew Emirates “Business Class” to the Tokyo Summer Olympics – A Look at the Details

...

As for the onboard “perks”, the accommodations for the horses was called “business” class – though not the business class that you may know from regular Emirates flights! For horses, this meant that there were just 2 horses per flying stable/pallet instead of 3 horses. They were also served meals throughout their flight as well as “on-demand” snacking of hay throughout the flight.
