Pa man gets 8 to 20 years for punching grocery store customer

WILLIAMSPORT — A man who punched a Williamsport woman in the eye because he said she’d run over his foot with a shopping cart was sentenced to 8 to 20 years in state prison. Eric Sylvester Graham, 46, of Williamsport, had pleaded guilty in May to aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.

In sentencing him Wednesday, Lycoming County Judge Marc F. Lovecchio pointed out a video that showed slight contact but nothing to corroborate Graham’s claim the woman slammed the cart onto his foot while they were in a Weis Market.

Judge Lovecchio said he was also concerned that Graham made no effort to help 69-year-old Ramona DiMassimo, of Williamsport. She suffered a facial fracture and bleeding on the brain. Then cited Graham’s lack of remorse, the age of the victim, the extent of her injuries and the emotional effects of the assault on her as reasons for the harsh sentence.

The video showed Graham punching DiMassimo with his closed right fist shortly after 9 a.m. in the frozen food section and her falling to the floor immediately.
Graham’s fiancé, Blythe Demory, told police she heard a crack from the woman’s head hitting the floor and saw her eyes roll back. Although Graham left the store, Demory remained and told police where he likely was headed. He was arrested a short time later.

Years ago, two women in a grocery store were blocking a bottle neck between the end of a meat case (which I wanted to access), and a display. Neither wanted to move first, and literally spent 2 minutes saying “You go.” “No, you go.” “No, please, you go first.” “No, I insist, you go.”

Finally, I said, “Will one of you PLEASE go?” One of the women told me I was very rude. So, I turned around, walked the fifty feet length of the meat case, rounded the far end and came back up the other side, by which time they had abandoned the bottle neck, and I could buy my chicken.

I finished shopping, and as I was walking down the last aisle, the woman who thought I was rude, rammed her shopping cart into my achilles’ tendon. I turned around and said “I guess I’m still the rude one, huh?”. She turned red and scuttled away.

But, I didn’t punch her out. I may have been tempted, but I didn’t.

Hopefully she looked inward and changed her mind about a future with him - likely a miserable, abusive future.

she was in too deep and desperate for an out. I hope the victim recovers fully.

7. Yep. Observing how a man treats other women

shows you how he eventually will treat you. When seeing behavior like this from a partner, women should take it seriously and walk away for their own sanity and safety.

What will 8 to 20 years do to this man that 3-5 won't do. He will be a complete burden to the state for all that time ?

No excuse for violence, but this crime is terrible but the sentence is quite extreme.

A classmate of mine, embezzled more then 3 million dollars from a elderly client of his with his brother

He did a 1 1/2 years in prison, his brother hatched the plan and did other crimes, he did 3 years.

she'll be seeing doctors for treatment from her injury til she dies.

Looking at her age, we'll all be paying for that treatment out of medicare
