Amid a covid resurgence, a restaurant is requiring masks again and bracing for confrontation
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08/01/dallas-restaurant-mask-rules/
This whole thing with people not wanting to mask up, were tired of it, Ellens CEO Joe Groves said. You can have all the political opinions you want, but when you come into this restaurant and berate an 18-year-old hostess that we have in our offices, youve crossed the line, and Im tired of it.
We care about keeping people safe and keeping people healthy, and there are far more people that agree with us than dont, Groves said. Its just a matter of how are we willing to tackle it.

BEWARE OF FAKE REVIEWS
We care about your safety, so we require our guests to wear masks except while seated at their table. Some disagree, which is fine. Others are hell-bent on damaging our reputation because of their beliefs. 1-star reviews on Google, Yelp, Trip-Advisor, and other sites should be taken in this context.
We love our guests, and we want you all to be safe and happy.
A local favorite place.

NRAs Visit to Dallas Prompts Ellens Owner to Get Political
After NRA convention attendees allegedly spewed racially driven insults at Ellens staff, one of the downtown restaurants owners responded by printing a politically-charged message on all customers receipts.
Thanks for visiting Ellens! A portion of this weeks proceeds will be donated to organizations dedicated to implementing reasonable and effective gun regulation, reads the newly added statement, which is finished with the greeting, Welcome to Dallas!
Ellens owner, Joe Groves, posted a picture of the receipt on Facebook, along with this caption: Im making a list of the vile, racist, moronic conversations overheard from NRA attendees eating at the restaurant. They dont even speak softly. The message was originally reported by the Dallas Observer.
Groves told Eater that convention attendees had insulted his staff members, which prompted him to add the message to his receipts. The customers, who Groves says were wearing convention attire, allegedly told a Latino staff member, Your illegals are kept in the kitchen, right?
