Trump said what !? 'Severe cognitive decline'

On Saturday night, former president Donald Trump called into Fox News host Dan Bongino and, during a rambling interview that touched upon multiple subjects, made some curious claims about the COVID-19 pandemic that had
critics wondering if he even remembers last year when the country went into a major shutdown.

With a COVID variant running rampant across the country among Americans who have refused to get vaccinated, host Bongino asked about the current state of affairs while complaining about potential mask mandates.

"Well, first of all,
could you imagine if I were president right now and we had this massive attack from the coronavirus,
you know, now they like to call it, they have new names and they have other new names, but
it's exactly what we had, we had the same thing," Trump suggested.
"If that were me, they would say 'what a horrible thing, what a horrible job.'
These are numbers in some cases that are equivalent to what it was, but we don't hear that."

Critics were quick to note that the former president did little during the early days of COVID-19 which led to over 600,000 deaths as his administration bungled the response -- in sharp contrast to the pro-active work being done by President Joe Biden's administration.

That's nothing new with his orangeness. He's been talking that way since 2015, at least, but very few people in the media seem to notice.

Imagine that.

It would be if TFG was still in office?

Without Biden’s massive vaccination rollout, etc. ?

Well, I can't really rule out cognitive decline as well....

But his lies are always about selling an image, convincing people "this is what we're going to say; this is what we're going to insist really is, regardless of the facts"

He isn't forgetting his disastrous handling of the pandemic, he's just trying to convince people it didn't happen, or at least to act as if it didn't.

They're the ones in permanent freakout mode against any sort of public health measures, and also they're the first to point to Biden for failing to "make them" not catch and spread the contagion.

He's declaring he has no responsibility at all for almost 700,000 deaths. I know I'm overstating how many have died, but he's also responsible for the not be under control, of those people with the "great immune systems" who will not take the vaccine because a Democrat is in office pushing it, and for those undercounted because some coroners didn't bother putting COVID as the first cause of death to "spare the family" or whatever.

Huge undercounting in deaths best evaluated by deaths above average or expected. Some perhaps due to many not seeking care because of fear of Covid, but I’ve seen analyses able to parse this. Estimates are close to double the official count around the world, not just in US

But any time I see a transcript of what he's said, there is absolutely no sense at all. When he speaks, he has the rhythms and prosody of the English language, but rather like a psychopath, what he actually says has no meaning.
