What are your thoughts on whether the new outbreak of Delta will hurt Biden among voters?
Obviously Biden has done a pretty good job with what he has to work with to get 70% of Americans with at least 1 dose, and half the country fully vaccinated.
But of course, Republican Governors like DeathSantis and Abbott are causing the virus to be out of control in Red States.
Obviously we're not dumb enough to hold Biden responsible for their failures, but a lot of Americans are dumb.
I've actually wondered if DeSantis and Abbott are letting Covid ravage their states so they can blame it on Biden to help them in 2022 and 2024.
But do you think most voters see through that nonsense, and realize it's Republicans failing to handle Covid responsibly?

(31,261 posts)President Biden is making a solid effort and following science. Incidentally COVID also follows science, which is why people like DeSantis and Abbott will suffer in the end. They will always have about 35% of Americans, but they lose most of the rest. DeSantis is not doing well in Florida right now on the issue of popularity.

(3,213 posts)I hope he craters, but we saw with Mango Mussolini no matter what he did, he could never go below like 35-40%.

(16,843 posts)as the fault of those who are dying. I think it's obvious to everyone who isn't a Trumper that Joe Biden did everything he could to get people to get vaccinated, and the deaths were mostly due to stubborn ignorance.
I don't know what to think about Texas and Florida. Both governors have been stupid as hell, but the citizens of those states seem to like stupidity in their politicians. I doubt Biden will carry Texas or Florida in 2024, although it's possible, and we should try to win both states.
Last I heard, 70% of adults have received at least one shot, so they agree with Biden and the Democrats on that, at least. I hope most of them will appreciate Biden's leadership in this area and will remember all he's done to save lives. I think they will, but a lot can happen in 3 years in America. Look at all that's happened in just this last year.
