It doesn't necessarily mean unusually good or excellent.

...believe if they get sick from the vaccine, Medicare won't cover them because it's experimental. They base their belief on a ruling about a cancer treatment. They live together in self-imposed isolation. I argued my mouth dry.
They are good Biden-centrist Democrats.

when 40% of the population buys into this willful ignorance, the rest of us don't get a "free pass," so yes, our exceptionalism is in stupidity.

involves more people than most? Otoh, since we only have @4% of the world's population, maybe the exceptionalism is a myth in this case.
