(6,924 posts)I think it is appropriate care for the people who have refused to believe people with actual knowledge.

(23,294 posts)There should be no resources freely given to these people. If they require care then let them pay for it.

(9,958 posts)Theyve just allowed disinformation and politics to get in the way of common sense. Not a one of them would choose to go to a pastor to pray away a severe tooth ache. They would get to the dentist quickly. Nor would those having a heart attack or various forms of cancer refuse treatment.
Theres a strong correlation between those who refuse to be vaccinated and those who identify as Republicans. Too many of them see not being vaccinated from a political point of view: it means that they have the power to preventing Biden from claiming success against the virus, and it is a means of thumbing their noses at liberals who want everyone who can to be vaccinated. Those two effects seem to be worth continuing to damage the country and getting Covid and dying.
I do not include minority communities in this category because I suspect theres a lot of disinformation there, such as whether the shots are free. I remember reading somewhere recently that some minorities thought they would be charged. And my other question would be whether minority communities have enough vaccine sites and sites that are accessible by public transportation.

(28 posts)I've been mulling this over some time, much of which has me saying, "screw that bastards and let them suffocate in their own disease..." But when I reflect, I wonder who that makes me. It is the trumplicans who are cruel and happy to see the libs suffer and die. When NYC was slammed in spring 2020, the idea that those New Yorkers were dying was happy news to the trumpers who thought COVID was not just nothing to worry about, but was actually a good thing if it was killing liberals and people of color.
Now that it is killing the conservatives due to their ignorance/religion/tribalism etc... should we think that is a good thing?
Who does that make us?
I have totally run out of patience for the unvaccinated, but I want to be part of a group that thinks that *everybody* should be treated to the best of our ability. Otherwise, we aren't any better than them.

(10,134 posts)suggest it was only minorities dying, and that's one of the reasons why Trump did nothing to stop the spread?
Sigh, I really despise them and don't want to be like them by wishing death on people I don't know. But I have no sympathy for them when they get sick and die.
It's a very tight row to hoe.

(16,265 posts)I'm plenty disgusted with the antimasking, antivaxxing covidiots, and I understand where these sentiments are coming from, but I can't get behind them, for the reasons you've articulated.
In addition, I think these types of comments display a massive lack of understanding of how medical ethics work.
Maybe I'm a bit idealistic, but I always thought being a health care professional meant caring for those who need care, period, not just picking and choosing who to care for, based on some sort of "deservability" criteria. The minute someone is denied care because the reason they are in need of it is deemed to negate their "deserving" it, we will all be in very deep trouble. That is not a world I want to live in.

Do I want stroke and accident victims to be turned away from hospitals because sick anti-vaxxers have taken all the beds? No.
If I had to pick - and somebody does - it would be the anti-vaxxer who was turned away, not the stroke victim.

(406 posts)if it does come to a triage type situation that a great many of the anti vaxxers have a lesser chance of survival than other sick and injured people and would be put on stablilizing status onlly.
