WOO HOO! Canada has finally reopened the border between the US and Canada.

I hope a bunch of trumpers and general American buttheads don't ruin it for the rest of us.

FOLLOW THE RULES!

1. Be fully vaccinated
2. Get a test before entering
3. Casual visits (i.e., vacations, etc.) are still not permitted

I didn't know about no 'casual' visits. Odd. Tomconroy Aug 2021 #3
Yes it is, mostly because most of the reasons for crossing the border were already allowed.... George II Aug 2021 #4

to see the falls from that side. Whenever we are allowed to visit we will definitely be outdoors, social distance and mask up with high quality masks.

The main difference is there's no mandatory 3-day stay at an "approved" hotel and other technicalities.

Looking deeper into this, one of the acceptable reasons is "tourism", which may mean vacations or what would normally be considered casual.

It seems complicated.

I was hoping to get up there in the fall to visit non-immediate family members (aunts, uncles, cousins) but I'd hate to drive 11 hours only to be turned away.

SECOND EDIT! The first reason is NOT acceptable. That Canadian website sure is confusing.

[Not] Acceptable:

visits, weddings, leisure, tourism, recreation, visit or upkeep of property, fishing, or other optional reasons

NOT Acceptable (!):

tourism, fishing, entertainment or leisure
