A California surfing school owner who was charged with killing his two children in Mexico is a follower of QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories who thought the children "were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them," federal officials alleged.
Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, was charged Wednesday with foreign murder of U.S. nationals in connection with the death of his 2-year-old son and his 10-month-old daughter, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. Authorities said Coleman confessed to the killings and told the FBI that he used a spear fishing gun to stab them.
A criminal complaint alleges that he told the FBI that he killed his children because he believed they "were going to grow into monsters" and that conspiracy theories led him to believe that his wife had passed down her "serpent DNA" to the children.

According to the complaint, Coleman said that he knew what he did was wrong but that "it was the only course of action that would save the world."

Not saying I want him to ever see freedom again. I dont. But I hate the death penalty.

(10,156 posts)Taken from a chance to live a full life. I don't think the death penalty should be there due to innocent people who are wrongly convicted. But this asshole confessed. He should be rotting in hell asap

(26,067 posts)Do you also believe the state should sentence rapists to corrective rape? I mean, if the state can murder, they should be able to rape, too, right?
The death penalty is what barbarians do.

I never signed up for Facebook or any other social media site. I saw early on it was toxic.
It allows people to live in an insular environment.

(20,572 posts)that is normal. Yesterday she called me to tell me to watch FAUX news because they tell the truth. Then she rattled off every RW trope you could think of. I held my own but this was just nuts. That was all she wanted to talk about and I suspect she has crossed the Rubicon. Two down, who knows how many more in my family will go over the edge.

(62,269 posts)Gore sites have been squashed but somehow 4chan still persists. My belief is that 4chan is a honeypot for psychos/crazies and you hear from time to time guys going to jail for posting crazy shit there. The thing is the mass killers who post on sites like that (Christchurch) will not leave traces, they will post one link and it'll immediately be deleted by the mods then they'll go on their spree.
Meanwhile the psychosis that is permitting them to become that way is allowed under the guise of some idea of free speech. It's mind poison. There are no doubt many many people on that site who have severe mental issues and it is only being bolstered by trolls and other people with mental issues.

Qanon, Jonestown, parents killing kids to rid them of demons.....sadly, the people drawn to Qanon have always been drawn to some deranged beliefs.

(11,949 posts)Its a person who has bought into a theology of hate.
Were the Crusaders Mentally ill? Were the Islamic fighters who conquered North Africa and Spain Mentality ill? Were the Nazis? Or Stalin and his henchmen who killed millions? Or the Aztecs cutting out the still beating hearts of their captives? I could state a hundred other examples. And keep going.
Killing in the name of ideology is as human as breathing. It is not at all mentally illness.
Its what we rational, science based people fight against.
This dude knew exactly what he was doing and why he did it. He knew the consequences. That not mentally ill. He admits it.
I have loved ones who have true mental illness. If they stop taking their medications they become a danger to themselves.
There was no medication you could give this guy because he was thinking clearly the entire time. He just believes in a batshit crazy religion. And have not doubts, its now a religion.
