Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forumswe can win with ron paul in the mix
we can win without him in the mix too
and he has a tendency to run 3rd party after being rebuffed by the GOP for president
and he pulls votes from the more extreme end of the GOP
the republican will have to come out and sacrifice a baby to yaweh to recover that end of the spectrum
leaving them looking even more batshit crazy than usual
so when ronulans approach tell them to have him go 3rd party
there has to be one of the goofier parties needing a big name
win win for us and for america!
edit for a word change i had the word "but" where the first "and"is
just made it clearer to me

(3,469 posts)I wish he would but I don't think he will. He has always run as a republican. In many ways Ron Paul is the worst thing that has happened to the Libertarian Party. He is, by far, the most well known Libertarian but by being a republican he has greatly weakened the Libertarian party. If he would run as a Libertarian, he would lose but he would get enough votes for the Libertarian Party to be included in the 2016 debates. That is what happened with Perot in 92 and why he was allowed in the 96 debates. I can't believe the Libertarian Party hasn't grasped this and put pressure on him to put up or shut up. Getting in the debates would be huge for a third party but Ron Paul is pretty much the only Libertarian who could achieve this. I bet most folks don't even know who ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 2008. It wasn't Ron Paul.*
*It was Bob Barr.
In 2004 it was Michael Badnarick

(1,330 posts)After I said that, i realized I was probably wrong to say "never." I just knew he hadn't run as a Libertarian recently and definitely doesn't have " a tendency to run third party." Seriously though, thanks for the info. I should have googled before posting.

(24,689 posts)He says hes not going to do it but also leaves the window open slightly by not eliminating the possibility entirely.

(10,237 posts)He ran as the reform party candidate after the primaries.
Unfortunately, his run was like a big fart in church.
PEACE!

(10,237 posts)...because it might screw his little boy's chances for a future spot on the ticket.
I'd love to see it happen though.
