I can't talk about her 1st segment or I might get an alert. It has to do with Democrats going on vacation with no known plan to stop the GQP election rigging/suppression. Pretty depressing segment.

(102,226 posts)rights legislation and how they will pass it, I'd feel better. But damn, I get no indication whatsoever.
Infrastructure is important. Voter rights are even more so.

(9,998 posts)Forget the vacation part. But what exactly is our plan to stop the rigging and suppression?
Placing blame on the Democrats seems ridiculous, since there is little the Democrats can do in their current position. Without cloture, it's a dead end, unless the filibuster were to be removed, and there's Zero chance of that happening. No matter how much we here at DU protest, it's also a dead end.

(21,310 posts)but if I were this is what I would do. Cancel vacation or cut it in half. Break up S1 into individual bills. Vote on each individual bill one after the other rapid fire. When the GQP votes down every sensible election bill then go to Manchin about a filibuster carve out for election/voting bills. Doing nothing would not be an option for me. Saying there is nothing that can be done would not be an option for me.

(25,241 posts)We see whats happening in these Red States all over the country. It would be a travesty if we just sit back and let the Repugs take over.
We have to be creative. What would the Repugs do if the shoe were on the other foot?

Chuck Schumer is not some All Powerful being. He's Majority Leader, but that goes only so far.

(2,389 posts)"For your scheduling purposes, assuming that the Senate does, in fact, complete work on a budget resolution, the House will return to session on the evening of August 23 to consider that budget resolution and will remain in session until our business for the week is concluded," Hoyer, of Maryland, the House majority leader, said in a statement to colleagues.
House members had been scheduled to return Sept. 20.
"This critical bill honors the legacy of John Lewis and the heroes of the Civil Rights Movement by restoring the protections of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that were removed in the disastrous [Supreme Court] rulings," he said.

(9,998 posts)If she was taking the repubs' side, I doubt she'd be attacking the Democrats for doing nothing.
I just don't think there's much they can do.
