A Hawaii man has been arrested after he was caught on video pushing over an elderly woman in a brazen daylight assault on the streets of Honolulu, authorities said Wednesday.


Jordan K. Wong, 37, was identified as the suspect who assaulted the woman Saturday around 11:40 a.m. on South Beretania Street, Honolulu’s Department of the Prosecuting Attorney said in a statement.


Wong was apprehended after citizens shared surveillance video of the incident on the Facebook group Stolen Stuff Hawaii. The footage shows the suspect walk toward the elderly woman and shove her, causing the victim to fall over the curb and into the street.

While the woman’s exact age was unclear, a witness who worked at a local business and helped the victim estimated she was about 80 years old, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.

The suspect’s motive remained unclear as it appeared on video that he did not attempt to take the victim’s purse.

1. What is going on here? Every time I see one of these stories where someone is assaulted randomly

on the street it is almost always a younger or middle aged man assaulting an older woman, usually Asian. There are also attacks against elderly men and a few against children or younger women, but they are never against healthy, able-bodied young men.

How cowardly do you have to be to do something like this to a person whom you know cannot defend themselves against your aggression? What the hell is wrong with these people? Has anyone heard any stories where they have done a profile on these people?

It's so awful and out of control. Nobody should have to fear walking down the street in broad daylight while minding their own business.

3. " but they are never against healthy, able-bodied young men." this would be a very different video

if he had pushed a young healthy male... the male would most likely have stayed on his feet, kept his balance and quickly retaliated violently.. perp knows that. he wanted a risk free assault.
