I attended a Sci-fi Convention last weekend. We all had to be fully vaccinated and show proof of our cards before picking up our badges. We also had to be masked at all times while in the hotel.
In an email sent out to all who attended, under 3,500 of us, one attendee left early on Friday due to mild symptoms of COVID. The email traced the movements if this person. It was urged we all get tested. The email was sent on Wednesday of this week.
Yesterday, my husband and I went to our health provider to get tested with the swab up the nose. Results came just moments ago.....NEGATIVE.
I will continue to exercise caution regardless because in 2 weeks, we travel to see a dear friend who almost 4 months ago had her 2nd Kidney transplant. She was vaccinated months before her surgery and is back to square one, as if she were not vaccinated at all. She gets this, it could kill her.
I am glad I did this.

(8,329 posts)The incubation period is longer than 3 days. I am pretty sure I contracted Covid on 1/6 but did not come back positive until 1/15.

(16,784 posts)Not only was I masked the whole time, I washed my hands and used sanitizer about the hotel constantly. I was not in the face of anyone, and made sure there was enough distance for talking. Even if I had to sneeze, I used a Kleenex I kept with me.
In the meantime. I will mask when I go to appointments, the store, an outside Ren Faire(to even keep the dust out it has been so dry here), etc.

(25,848 posts)Mile Hi, in Denver, is planning to be live in October. I expect there will be similar restrictions there. I am looking forward to seeing many people I haven't seen in two years.
I also expect, knowing s-f people as I do, that there will be no complaining about getting the vaccine and wearing masks. We are a smart, sensible, science-oriented bunch.

(11,451 posts)I got tested Wednesday afternoon and still don't have results. I have been battling a stomach thing for over a week had a slight fever so my doctor wanted me tested.
I don't have any fever now feel fine but want to see results. They told me labs are backed up here because of how busy they are. My area had 400 new positive cases just yesterday. I am in southern Oregon.
Other than grocery stores masked have done nothing except a bookclub of ten all vaccinated ladies a week before. No one else is sick.
