'Your child will wait for another child to die.' Amid Covid-19 surge, Dallas County has no pediatric ICU beds left, county judge says(CNN)Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations are surging and in Dallas County, Texas, there are "zero ICU beds left for children," county judge Clay Jenkins said in a news conference Friday morning.
"That means if your child's in a car wreck, if your child has a congenital heart defect or something and needs an ICU bed, or more likely if they have Covid and need an ICU bed, we don't have one. Your child will wait for another child to die," Jenkins said. "Your child will just not get on the ventilator, your child will be CareFlighted to Temple or Oklahoma City or wherever we can find them a bed, but they won't be getting one here unless one clears."
The judge added no ICU beds have been available for children for at least 24 hours. The Texas Department of State Health Services told CNN the shortage of pediatric ICU beds is related to a shortage in medical staff.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an executive order on Thursday night banning mask and COVID-19 vaccination mandates to promote individual right and responsibility in the Lone Star State.
Abbott, 63, announced the executive order in a press release just hours after Biden called on states to do more to incentivize vaccination.

The response reflects deep resistance among many GOP voters to restrictions aimed at containing a virus they feel poses minimal personal threat.

(70,490 posts)Abbot is not stupid either both of them are well aware that their policies will sicken and or kill
people and continue the spread of the disease. And both of them have made the brutal political
calculus of keeping the disease going because that will give them and the GOP some kind of political
advantage. Can't give Joe Biden "a win" and also some kind of fascist plot that I can't put my finger
on but I know it is there.

The state of Florida has had almost as many deaths from C-19 as the # of Londoners who died
in the Nazi bombings in WW II. 40,000 dead in Florida from C-19 so far and 50,000 civilians died
during the German air raids aka "The Blitz." Sadly I think Florida will soon pass the 50,000 mark.
Everybody needs to remember that @ the CPAC meeting a little more than a month ago the audience
cheered when somebody said that President Biden had not hit his goal of 70% of Americans vaccinated
by July 4th.

(13,546 posts)Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, who leads the Commissioners Court and has managed the countys pandemic response, announced new regulations Wednesday as part of an executive order in response to the new wave.
Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are challenging the new rules in court. They are defending an executive order from the governor that prevents local governments from adopting mask mandates, arguing that individual Texans should be responsible for choosing whether to wear a mask.
Thursday, Jenkins legal team filed a response to the governor and attorney generals request to an appeals court to block the mask order. They argued that there would be no damage in waiting for a later hearing date to decide the matter and that banning the mask mandate would cause irreparable harm as long as infections continue to surge.

Now he has let Trumpvirus expand with his policies.
