Democrats need help with their January 6th investigation.
They cannot do the job alone. It is too big.
Ideally, they would have the majority of the Republican Party with them, after such an attack upon our Capitol. Unfortunately, many of them may have been complicit in the attack and in the events leading up to the attack?
And that is what makes the investigation so complicated and unprecedented. That is why the Democrats can not do the investigation by themselves.
They must realize that they are in a struggle for the survival of our country and our democracy. There can be no solution if it remains a battle between Democrats and Republicans.
That is why the Democrats need to find a way to enlist the help of the Judiciary in this struggle. They cannot remain on the sideline as the Executive Branch and one-half of the Legislative Branch (Republicans) have blatantly attacked our Constitution and everything it stands for.
In order to resolve this dilemma and to save our democracy, the Democrats must find a way to get the Judiciary involved. The Courts need to decide these issues. They cannot be left to partisan persuasion.
First of all, the Democrats should appeal the decision a couple of days ago where a Judge ruled that the Congress could not have all of Trump's tax returns. It is written in law. Appeal it and demand that the Courts rule in Congress's favor. Win or lose, they have to go to the Courts. Be prepared to take it all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. They cannot just let it ride.
Democrats will need to be more aggressive in this battle. For example, if the Committee sends out subpoenas and they are ignored by any witness, including Mark Meadows, Bill Barr, or Donald Trump, take it to Court. Democrats cannot win without the Judiciary more involved in this existential struggle.
