Stranded in Charlotte was lucky to get

Out of Charleston last night. 5 of us banded together and convinced a AA guy to put us in a flight. All my other flights were cancelled… made it out it about midnight. Hope to fly to Cleveland tomorrow 6:00 AM. Found a hotel. Most people slept at the airport. Not a great hotel but ok. My luggage is in Cleveland one hopes… fingers crossed for tomorrow. We have a ground stop whatever that is.

Hoping my 7:00 AM flight takes off tomorrow. I am going to explore the historic part of Charlotte today. I also need a toothbrushe. Why not make it an opportunity to see a new place? I am masked but few are.

The weather's at least decent again. Last time I had to wait over for a day without a rental car (same reason), I let the city buses take me on a tour, got off to visit an arboretum and a book store, and had an unexpectedly good lunch in another neighborhood I'll never see again.

14. I enjoyed it. I did the longest, kind of perimeter route around

the city (Spokane, not Los Angeles!) and transferred to busses that took me through the center and then near the arboretum. The bookstore and restaurant were whims in passing.

BBQ and sports bar type of place. Spent a lot of time there during the Democratic convention.

16. The Democratic Convention 2012

The Democratic convention was in Charlotte in 12, I ate there twice a week, the chopper salad and the small combo. I would get it for dinner and have leftovers for lunch the next day. The bar and wait staff was fun, edgy but professional. 5 times in 2 weeks I had dinner and five next day lunches. I grew up in Boston, BBQ was not a thing, but now, I am in love.

13. Heading to Virginia from SFO next week

I had booked Amtrak, but cancelled and booked a flight instead. Watching the weather reports, and I know it was storming in SW Virginia. My only layover will be in Charlotte.. I recall being at the airport years ago, and it was an easy layover. I expect it will be this time, unless more storms come through next week. xingfingers.
