Particularly anyone from W’s administration. Afghanistan is one of the most grotesque examples of mission creep in history. Our objectives when we went in as stated by W’s administration was to take Afghanistan off the table as a refuge for international terrorism. The other was to capture and/or kill UBL.

The first objective was completed in late 2002 and the other would come 8 years later.

I’ve been hoping for our withdrawal since at least 2005, when it became clear that it was unlikely UBL was still in Afghanistan.
