Wonder where Air India AIC126 is headed

It was headed to Delhi from Chicago. Turned around at the Afghan border and is now headed west. You can search on the flight number to see the flight path. Don't know how much range the have left.

Hard to see anything on flights transiting Afghan airspace. Air traffic control has been taken over by US military.

Note that its planned flight path was much further east.

1. I would think they want passenger traffic out of Afghan airspace for possible air action.

3. Lots of commercial flights in the area

Air India has two planes on the ground in Kabul, delayed from regular morning departures to accommodate evacuation of Indian nationals.

And that route to Delhi was being affected.

5. Maybe Heading Towards the United Arab Emirates?

Apparently they just skirted the Afghanistan northwestern border and are now heading southward. Maybe towards (SHJ) Sharjah International Airport, United Arab Emirates = (?). Clearly, I know nothing...but hope they land safely, and soon.

6. AIC126 is now heading to UAE.

Probably need to take on fuel.

Still strange how far west they were compared to their flight plan. Originally scheduled to cross that tiny sliver of eastern Afghanistan.
