pretending everything's normal to prevent the population from panicking. Then after a while start disappearing people, plenty of time for that.

...unless the Taliban were very organized, which is doubtful, would be very difficult to do right away.
Does anyone know how many Taliban are in Kabul? Some have probably never been in a city that large in their lives?
I would imagine that if they were truly organized, the radio and TV stations would be the first things they try to seize?
