“Newly empowered Taliban militants have informed the U.S. that they are prepared to provide safe passage for civilians attempting to flee Afghanistan through an airport in Kabul,” CNBC reports.

Said national security adviser Jake Sullivan: “We intend to hold them to that commitment.”

Lets get them all out ASAP. They should allow US helicopters to ferry people from the city to the airport. I heard the traffic is a nightmare and is dangerous.

Maybe atm they're not going to kill US helpers or Americans but that won't last. I wouldn't trust that "promise" for even two days.

I'd be packing and walking to the airport today

Kabul is a big city with a lot less employment after the US is gone and aid had dried up.

They are probably sending Afghans back to their home provinces as well. It's not clear that their system of government requires a large, centralized bureaucracy in a capitol city.

the new gov't are assholes but I am not hearing of massacres...yet.

The Taliban seem to be talking and playing somewhat nice.

Not enough flights available to get foreigners and Afghans out.

Panic at the airport, yes.

What does the media see....absolute chaos and it is all Biden's fault!

“The U.S. and NATO control the airfield itself, but it’s so chaotic and violent at the perimeter that people can’t get inside, even people with green cards and visas,” said Joe Saboe, a military veteran.

White House officials said Tuesday the Taliban has committed to providing “safe passage” of Afghan and American civilians to the Hamid Karzai airport in Kabul, threatening possible military intervention if the pledge is violated.

But who knows for sure. I dont trust anything the Taliban says at this point. But regardless this could be good sign.

Militants-R-Them; and I doubt there is OR ever will be any form of (actual) government; they (the militants) will simply do whatever the militant with the most funds asks them to do...
