Acting United States Dennis R. Holmes announced that the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a joint sex trafficking operation during the 2021 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The operation began on August 6, 2021, and continued through August 12, 2021.

As a result, the following nine men were arrested and charged with a variety of offenses:

I'm being semi-facetious here, but I think there's some truth to this, that there is a type of man who lacks self-confidence such that he is apt to be intimidated by a grown woman with a mind of her own. Such an individual will sometimes be drawn toward young teenage girls, because he finds them to be less threatening and more easily dominated.

I've watched a lot of those To Catch a Predator shows and that's how a lot of those guys struck me, as guys who went after teenagers because they couldn't hack it with grown women. They weren't necessarily attracted to "children" per se, but to girls who were old enough to have the physical characteristics of women but young enough to be very inexperienced and easily impressed by an "older man" being interested in them. 😬

'Minor' in legal parlance is typically understood to be 'under 18'.

The term 'minor' is not synonymous with 13-14 year olds, nor are '13-14 year olds' mentioned anywhere in the link.

So, if I missed the reference to the 13 year olds, that's part of the disconnect here.

I might still philosophically disapprove of entrapment, but I wouldn't stick my nose out in response to an OP about someone getting busted for trying to sleep with a 13 year old FFS
