Will the vaccines be ok'd for elementary school kids before states like Texas and Florida kill too many of them?

Will the greedy and politically craven (who are all vaxxed themselves) circumvent safety measures before we stand a fighting chance of starting our kids on the vaccines? Day One, my district had 6 positives, Day Two... 18, then 40, then 114, then 90. Five days in and we are rising like crazy with far more than that being quarantined.

I don't see us making it in class until December. I really don't know how much further many school districts in the South will last.


I'm immune-compromised and just got my booster whilst my kid is defenseless, only able to wear a mask in school. They're on their own and I'm agonizing for them, trying to keep them as safe as I can.

I don't want to hurry the Scientists, but maybe I do just a little bit. Is anyone else enjoying this special form of hell?

1. Can't happen fast enough

My husband is a transplant recipient. His nephrologist called to say he should get in there for a booster asap.

I have a rare heart condition, and after two heart attacks at 24 and 51, I'm technically in Congestive heart failure. I had COvid in December, the week the vaccines came out.

I work for the schools, tutoring, mostly, and doing some curriculum coaching for new ELA teachers, half time.

We do not have to encounter many folks in doors right now, and while tutoring, I mask, kids mask, and we mostly worked outside when we could.

Last year, I felt the kids were all right, because COVID seemed to be mild for them, if they had symptoms. The Delta variant is an animal of a different stripe altogether.

Our local School Board opted for masks optional, then the following week, reversed course because of parent pressure. Deep Red area, turning purple, south of Asheville.

God won't protect the rubes--they keep praying, and he's sent scientists to develop a vax, which they will disregard.

I really feel this is a global culling of the herd; all the anti-science, anti climate change folks will kill themselves off so the rest of us can learn to live in a mega-drought brought on by warming.

IT's all connected. Permafrost melting, new viruses, and quick id of who understands basic science, and who is a wishful thinking moron.

I worry that Abattoir and DeathSentence will forbid vaxxed kids from going to school. Oh, well, better to stay home and avoid being fed the lies that pass for curriculum in TX and FL.

4. Why are they waiting on approval when we know for a fact that it is safe?

All this waiting around just gives the anti-vaxxers ammunition.

Lets just start giving to kids now.

5. from what I have read it will be "mid-winter" which means what?

December or January? By that time every kid under 12 will have been exposed and most will get sick.

What kind of a fucking idiot would force unvaccinated people into a super spreader situation like that?

We have a grandson who apparently has been exposed and we are waiting for him to be tested.

6. I fear that anti-vax parents won't allow their kids to be vaxxed either.

Maybe if they were allowed to, that sort of parent would put their kids in the car without seatbelts while they drive around drunk. I'm able to see little difference.
