Well, now I wait...

my GF may have gotten exposed to covid via an unvaccinated (moron) coworker.

we both have a covid test scheduled for tomorrow at 4:30.

both of us are vaccinated and both of us continue to wear masks. My GF double masks at work.

we both are not exhibiting any symptoms at the moment.

we are in the ether of a covid purgatory waiting to be tested.

so much fucking stress because of stupid inconsiderate assholes.

If their side is wrong, thousands more will suffer and die.

Good thing I'm not in charge around here. I'd aerosolize and spray the Deep South with the vaccine from a fleet of crop dusters.

... I want to believe that she wouldn't get infected. If your girlfriend does get Covid, the vaccination will certainly have been worth it anyway. Good luck to both of you!

5. We went through this last week.

Hubster got a text from a friend he had been with 12 days before saying he had a breakthrough infection and was letting everyone he had been around for the past three weeks know. We are crazy careful, don’t associate with anyone whose status we don’t know, double mask, everything. Hubster had no symptoms. I had..and have..the same sinus crap I get every summer. Pollen. Plant mold. Ugh.

Hubster got tested two hours later. I waited. Later that evening, the friend texted and said he had figured out where he must have gotten it. 24 hours later, Hubster’s test came back negative.

I wondered if I should have gotten tested, but honestly, with my crappy sinuses, I often feel like I should test every damn day. And I had been around no one but Hubster for the preceding two-plus weeks.

I hope all goes well with you and GF. This really sucks.

I personally think we're okay, but I'm not one to let hope get in the way of science. LOL

but more over, I'm concerned about the people I came in contact with. I would never ever forgive myself if I was potentially responsible for giving them covid

I keep repeating the mantra of "this all could have been avoided" but I have to remember, here we are. that past is the past and now is now.

I can't dwell on what could have been, it just makes me sad.

It's important to recognize that the Delta variant is a game-changer in many ways. Eventually, probably everyone in the country will be exposed to it; it's simply too contagious to fully avoid unless you entomb yourself in a bunker.

So you're doing exactly what is needed to flatten the curve: get vaccinated, wear a mask, and if/when you're exposed to the virus, stay away from people until you're not contagious. This will help slow down the virus spread and (hopefully) keep healthcare from collapsing.

Meanwhile, anyone who isn't vaccinated... they are not your responsibility.

It's not fair that we do all we can and one fackup ruins it for us. I hope your tests are negative and if they're not, I hope you don't get seriously sick or have your lives disrupted beyond recognition or in the slightest.

Stay encouraged. ❤

if you test positive for the bugger but aren't symptomatic. Vaccinated people clear the virus in just a few days. Unvaccinated people take two weeks to mount an effective defense against it, plenty of time for it to kill them.

A tart word or twenty to the boss might get a mask policy in place, let him know anyone who tests positive is going to be out for days even if they're vaccinated, does s/he want that kind of absenteeism?

As for the selfish coworker, there's not much you can do except thank him/her for the vacation.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks back. Several of us at work were exposed by a co-worker with a breakthrough positive. He didn't suffer too badly, but another unvaccinated co-worker is currently in the hospital. I was one of the ones exposed, I'm vaccinated, and my work would only consent to me being tested if I showed symptoms.

So I took the next day off and acquired a test at Walgreens. Fortunately, I dodged the bullet. Here's hoping you do, too.

Have a neighbor who my 9 year old plays with his kid. He called to let me know his wife (who is suffering from lymes) just tested positive. From the get go this guy has said covid is all bullshit and a hoax. He does outside sales. He had told me no way his son will get cazed when he is able. His mother lives with him and has pulmonary illnesses.

So now I gotta get my kid teated because my kid was playing with his kid and the mom is positive.

So tired of these inconsiderate assholes.
