Afghan Political Speculation

Not US politics so much as Afghani politics.

The central point is the apparently corrupt president fleeing the country, reportedly with literal sacks of cash.

The army was poorly supported, logistically and politically.

It seems that led to a fuck it attitude toward defending the government. Why fight when no one seems to care if you do or not. That attitude may not have been so true in the Kabul area, but certainly elsewhere.

With no army resistance, the Taliban was free to roll.

So were we wrong to pull out? Clearly the only reason the Taliban was not back was the US/Allies presence.

Would the army have held back the Taliban if we stayed? Maybe if we stayed until we could have evacuated everyone, including our Afghan friends?

This all goes back to one Ashraf Ghani, Criminal President.
