The new statement adds to the districts mission to promote Informed, Engaged and Patriotic Citizens, as the Cranberry Eagle reports.
The addition prohibits the teaching of concepts that assign fault, blame, or guilt to people solely because of race, sex and religion, and opposes materials that indoctrinate students in a single social, or political, ideology and/or theory, or promote one race, religion or sex above others.

Emphasis mine
Do they understand when they pull meaningless bullshit stunts like this, that they are just telling the rest of us that they are white supremacist racist wankers? And do they care? Are they s far down the rabid right wing rabbit hole of counter factual living that they wear their racism with pride? I think maybe so.

That's actually a pretty fair and reasonable statement, one that also likely would not block CRT. If the teaching is going far enough to actually apply blame or attempt to instill guilt, you've passed beyond CRT and are into something that I don't have a good name for.
Of course I suspect an honest interpretation of that statement is not what they had in mind.

(9,958 posts)and the free enterprise system is the best. No more teaching the theory that the US is exceptional. No more teaching the theory of Biblical intelligent design. Instead we should teach all possible ways the Earth was created, even those with no scientific basis because no single theory can be taught. They can no longer teach white supremacy as in white people built this country and are superior because thats teaching a single theory.
This is beyond ridiculous. Conservatives are the most fearful people imaginableso fearful that they cannot honestly face our own history. It is the adults who are triggered by discussions of race, and they are passing down their crazy notion to their kids with nonsense like this.

(61,585 posts)my grad school diversity class had a whole textbook that attempted to assign fault, blame, and I guess attempted to instill guilt on its readers whom the authors apparently assumed were all white, so that stuff is out there. I don't know if it was CRT or not, I had never heard of that in 2006 and that phrase wasn't used, but I hear statements not unlike what could be found in that textbook nowadays. It's better that that stuff not be taught, because it is extremely polarizing and doesn't win many converts.

(5,112 posts)The new rule plainly says no favoring any one religion... so, watch as they continue to be unabashedly christian while espousing their 'no favoritism' rule... these things only apply to the people the board does not like. Two guesses as to who those people are...

(48,986 posts)Any discussion of the founding fathers should include discussion of slavery, of the women's roles pro- revolution and how they have been treated, and discussion of First Nations models and inspiration in the leadup to Revolution and how they have been treated since.
Not including them would be to "promote one race/sex above others" (the white race).
Similarly, discussion of the expansion and industrialization of the US must include discussion of African American migration, their troubles and tribulations, and their important nation-building roles.
Not including them would be to "promote one race/sex above others".
There should be equal discussion of Indigenous religious beliefs and Muslim adherents must be treated with equal respect to other religions such as christianity. It should be emphasize that our numerals are called Arabic because they were kept alive and transmitted by Muslims from the Hindus who also developed math around the number zero. Algebra and geometry invented by dark-skinned Greeks was rediscovered long after the fact by johnny-come-lately christians reading Arabic texts.
To do other otherwise would be "promoting one religion about others".
In my view, this ruling REQUIRES teaching critical race theory to avoid "promoting a single social or political ideology". Otherwise, there would be white-washing.

(3,578 posts)She says all but one school board member is a die-hard Trumper, and that 90% of the families in the district have lost their freaking minds. A few nights ago, the school board meeting was off-the-hook crazy, with one guy shouting (because they never speak calmly), "We ain't Muslims, we're Americans, that's why we ain't wearing no masks!" And the crowd there went wild with approval.

Mars used to be a cow town, all agricultural and farm land. Over the years with the growth in that section of Butler County, the farms were sold and turned into acres of new housing, business and retail.
