Straightforward news (not opinion) delivered calmly without screaming and interruptions, and you can do other things while listening.

I like the correspondents he has on. And the interviews of people who cover D.C. politics. Joe has become an Independent because he couldn't stomach the RW idiocy of his GOP. So I give him that. I do like his correspondents, esp. when they cover books by political writers. I like Mika's push for more women in the press and in power in Washington.

I really think people get too exercised about some of this. Let's save our energy and direct our efforts to get our good Dems into office and defeating the bad guys.

BBC World News. First half hour is usually straight news. Second half hour is usually either more specialised news (business, sport, particular topic or region).

News, not commentary. Find out what has happened and what is happening that way.

Don't have cable. Plug an antenna into your digital TV.

10 times more people watch the news on traditional networks than all cable news channels combined.

I’ll occasionally watch a little bit of New Day, but it’s so repetitive.

Talks about himself constantly, brings no real perspective to events. I like a lot of the guests on the show, but he is awful.

Over the air.

That will get enough national (and local) news out in 30 minutes to keep myself informed.

Your best bet if late afternoon and evening don't work for you is to put the shows that you feel provide the best content on record.

I do that for Maddow and O'Donnell just in case I miss it. And do the same for local news.
