A person in Mississippi is hospitalized after reportedly ingesting livestock medication containing ivermectin from a feed store to treat or prevent COVID-19 — a remedy promoted heavily by right-wing vaccine opponents in recent weeks.

Ivermectin, normally used to treat parasites in humans and livestock, is now being prescribed by quack doctors and promoted in online forums as the latest version of the Trumpian drug hydroxychloroquine. Doctors promoting ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment include America's Frontline Doctors, the Trump-promoted Texas group that includes accused Capitol insurrectionist Dr. Simone Gold and "alien DNA" specialist Dr. Stella Immanuel (pictured).

“Devotees have besieged pharmacists with prescriptions from shady online prescribers, forcing pharmacies to crack down and treat the antiparasitic drugs like opioids," the Daily Beast reported recently. "As human-approved ivermectin prescriptions have been harder to come by, enthusiasts have taken to raiding rural tractor supply stores in search of ivermectin horse paste (packed with 'apple flavor!') and weighed the benefits of taking ivermectin 'sheep drench' and a noromectin 'injection for swine and cattle.'"

Earlier this month, a Texas official reported a noticeable increase in calls to poison control centers related to ivermectin.

I laughed then found out that at the big cowboy horse shows I used to frequent around here, it was the deal, THE deal. I still laughed. I should have gotten in on the ground floor. Some background: parents are educated, dad has a Ph.D., mom a Masters. But she went off the deep end early. Moved the family (4 young kids) way out in the country, home-schooled them their entire lives. They just went on vacation with the kids and their spouses and all but two became infected. Sent me a message saying they found a doctor who would prescribe this and they all took it and have recovered. I said I was happy for her and left it at that. So odd that they have no problem digesting an animal parasitic drug, but vaccines are bad

to get a bale of hay for my garden. In making conversation with the owner I brought up the dumbness of eating horse medication and got a tongue lashing about how it really works and that there are 250 doctors across the U.S. of A. that will attest to that.

Got my bale and got the hell outa there. I just couldn't take the crazy.
