... and the same return/exchange line at Target seems to chug along at about the same steady pace as a regular check-out line? Honestly... even though the Walmart is closer to me, their slow Customer "Service" counter (and unstocked shelves, and unpacked/shrinkwrapped pallets blocking the aisles) is one of the reasons that I ended up gradually transitioning to Target.
I know that my local Walmart can't be representative of their standards (perhaps it's just that they have difficulty hiring good help) but I do have to wonder how it can manage to stay in business.
And don't get me STARTED with Home Depot. It's also closer to me... but SO MUCH WORSE than Lowe's that it's worth driving the extra 25 miles.

(14,615 posts)Same problem filing insurance or warranty claims. They make everything ridiculously slow and impossible so we will give up. Then they can keep all the money we gave them, without providing any service in return.

Even amazon knows that making the return process easy only ENCOURAGES more purchases. Sure, there will always be those who abuse the privilege... but overall, if customers feel like their purchase choices are (relatively) risk-free... then if they're anything like me, they'll be more willing to spend more.

(42,862 posts)... Target has allowed me to return an item WITHOUT a receipt (but I gave them the number from my Target rewards card AND my credit card... and they were able to locate the original transaction... EASY!)
I guess they're copying Costco in that regard.

(99 posts)Avoid it and Scam's Club like the plague. Don't feel like having to take a shower before getting into my car after shopping there for non-american made products.

(5,111 posts)Why would anyone willingly shop there? Target is much more pleasant. Prices are similar for major brands but they dont carry the ultra cheap items.

(42,862 posts)... but not any more. Considering the better value, cleaner store, better products, NICER CARTS, competent employees, nicer/safer parking lot, frequent shopper rewards card, better customer service, easier returns... it's WELL WORTH THE DRIVE.
