Patient hospitalized after ingesting 'horse paste' promoted by Trump's 'alien DNA' doctor

A person in Mississippi is hospitalized after reportedly ingesting livestock medication containing ivermectin from a feed store to treat or prevent COVID-19 — a remedy promoted heavily by right-wing vaccine opponents in recent weeks....

Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs encouraged people with medical needs to consult with their doctors.

"There are potential toxicities," Dobbs said, referring to ivermectin use. "I think some people are trying to use it as a preventative, which I think is really kind of crazy. You wouldn't get your chemotherapy at a feed store. I mean, you wouldn't want to treat your pneumonia with your animal's medication. It can be dangerous to get the wrong doses of medication, especially for something that's meant for a horse or a cow."

MSDH Communications Director Liz Sharlot added: "You know, for the life of me, I don't get it. Dr. Dobbs, you have a vaccine that's safe and effective. And yet people, as opposed to getting the vaccine, want to go after these kinds of things."

Ivermectin, normally used to treat parasites in humans and livestock, is now being prescribed by quack doctors and promoted in online forums as the latest version of the Trumpian drug hydroxychloroquine. Doctors promoting ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment include America's Frontline Doctors, the Trump-promoted Texas group that includes accused Capitol insurrectionist Dr. Simone Gold and "alien DNA" specialist Dr. Stella Immanuel (pictured).

We wouldn't want them to have tried to treat themselves with a dangerous anti-parasitic drug for farm animals if it didn't even taste good.

to take up beds needed by actual cancer victims, leukemia victims, car accident victims, heart attack victims, fall victims, gunshot victims, poison victims and on and on?????????

Leave them to die in the parking lot. It's called "natural selection", or "Darwinism". It's their choice.

Donald Trump would be dead by now. He isn't, (but I keep hoping) so this Ivermectin stuff is a hoax.

But Ivermectin, the formulation used for HUMANS, is a very safe drug that has been used for over 40 years. It is commonly used in nursing homes to treat scabies (an "off label" use--i.e. not approved by FDA), with great success. The man who discovered that Ivermectin could treat river blindness--a horrible disease caused by a parasite--won the Nobel prize.

It is a safe drug in humans when used at proper doses. There are a lot of anecdotal stories about it helping with COVID. Yes, Ivermectin is used to treat parasites but it also has an inhibiting effect on RNA viruses. Similar to the ringworm drug now being studied to see if it's effective for COVID.

A nursing home that had a COVID outbreak around the same time they were using Ivermectin for a scabies outbreak had no deaths or even serious cases on the floor that was isolated for scabies (thus on Ivermectin). Anecdotal? Sure. But none of those patients died from Ivermectin either. Proper dosage for scabies is same dosage being advertised for COVID.

So the scoffing and chucking about someone using ivermectin for animals gives a bad name to a drug that has been a godsend for poor countries and river blindness. Don't confuse the two.
