1. Why don't we see this on the news?

We see the loudmouth yahoo denying COVID before intubation, but this little slideshow is LOTS of people, in lots of hospital settings.

Abbott's got COVID, but we're not hearing about the extra morgue trucks being brought in.

It's like the GOP/Corporate media want the pandemic to continue for profits--they've invested in pharma as they've given dangerous medical advice without the I'm not a doctor disclaimer. They've assiduously kept images of death off the TV, just like they did during Iraq and Afghanistan (until now). DeSantis is using the pandemic to distribute vouchers for parents to take public money to private schools. Never let a crisis go to waste.

We don't need images daily of people getting shots int their arms, but of those who didn't. We may not want to see the dead and they dying, but until we do as a nation, we'll be mired in this ever-evolving virus quicksand indefinitely.

8. Right. The Reuter's.

In a slide show on line.

I should have been more precise: our 24/7 ratings machines pretending to be Mainstream News Media on cable...

The few news and political junkies out there find this stuff, and we share it, but the average average schmoe probably doesn't read the Reuter's newsfeed very often. THey'll get the two most popular AP/Reuters stores, and we'll see those all day long.

9. You really haven't seen any news stories covering people with COVID?

It's been a pretty big deal for about a year and a half....

10. No, just the same few pictures.

More pictures of people being vaccinated, shots in arms, or the anti-science nut who was afeard of the needle begging to get his shot now that he's about to be vented.

If you think we need fewer picture shows.

Most folks watch local news, if at all, is my point. And even if 1/3 of that 6:00 news is Covid, it's not enough to make a dent in som eof the idiots who are lucky enough not ot have had covid hit their families or friends.

The unvaccinated have allowed for the virus' mutation into Delta, which we, the vaccinated can catch and pass along. Since the vaccines largely work, we most likely won't get sick, but the unvaxxed will, and they'll fill up the hospital beds, and delay things like chemo, knee surgery, heart valve surgery, or other long delayed elective surgery.

The Cable news bunch refused to call out lies, and allowed bullshit equal time with Fact. The fact is, we need another 50=60 million to get vaccinated, we need boosters, and oh, yeah, it's not just our problem, it's a global pandemic--the developing world needs vaccines, too.

It's a powerful presentation, and I'd like more of it in everyone's face, not just the news junkies.

15. The middle school mentality of the media always
Fri Aug 20, 2021, 01:50 PM
Aug 2021

focuses on the important stuff, like what is the latest cool story, who are the cool kids to talk about, what is the latest gossip with the in crowd, what is the latest scandal, what conflicts can they create to stir up some melodrama.

Straight, factual reporting just isn't exciting enough for them. Factual research, factual understanding of the broader picture of events - that stuff is just too tedious and dull for them. They need an adrenaline rush.

13. Well, for one thing, hospitals tend to discourage news people in the best times

and these days they're discouraging everybody who isn't staff or patients.

What they need to do is interview more people who barely survived and have long term injury and who are kicking themselves for buying the propaganda about the vaccine.

3. The photo of the IV stand with the large number of bags of medications hanging from it

was striking.

Two shots of a vaccine or a multitude of drugs, tubes, machines, etc. The choice is clear to many of us.

Great images

And before anyone cries ‘Hipaa’, patients can sign a release to have photos published

14. Huh? There were like 2-3 benign patient photos, the rest were just hospital stuff.

Not sure if we even looked at the same 33 pictures? The ones I saw there were 2-3 rather benign photos of a patient. One lady just sitting. The rest were just pictures of staff or equipment.

Certainly does not remotely capture even a tiny bit of what Covid does in its severe stages.
