While there is probably room for criticism, his political enemies are going to go into full attack mode as long as they think they smell blood in the water.
The good thing is this is happening early in his term, and there'll be plenty of time to repair his support when the smokes clears from the scene of the crime. News cycles have a way of burning themselves out if the final outcome is positive.

So it's just possible he might apologize. Probably won't. But isn't it interesting how very few people (and certainly none of our self-anointed Wise Persons in the popular media) called on the former guy to apologize to, say, Kizr Khan?

the so-called WMDs in Iraq, where over a million people were killed because of that LIE.

I would like to see them apologize for pushing the LIE that the email investigation was reopened, one week before the election in 2016.

President Biden is focusing on WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW, and that is getting Americans and Afghans and their families out safely.

The entertainment daily, what poses for news, have been doing this since the Communications Act of 1996

They don’t give a fuck about facts and nuance if there’s shit to be stirred.

I’m no longer a great defender of them, based on this week.

have to walk into a bigger mess.

In fact, he could have gone on tv, said that trump had made a questionable deal with the Taliban and had drawn down troops to a level that would not support an orderly withdrawal while protecting Americans and allies. Then, taken steps to rectify it.

We closed down an alternate airfield that some believe would have helped the situation. https://apnews.com/article/bagram-afghanistan-airfield-us-troops-f3614828364f567593251aaaa167e623

We are getting conflicting info and a lot of pointing fingers. I think everyone agrees trump is a worthless, incompetent POS, but the situation we are in right now is hard to pin on trump, IMO. And, even trying to do so, is disingenuous and just making excuses.

Again, Biden could have delayed the evacuation until troops, countries willing to take refugees, sufficient air evacuation capacity, methods of escape, etc., were in place.

Heck, our National Security Advisor said this BS, yesterday: "It's the responsibility of those fleeing to get to the airport themselves."

People who say Biden didn't want to put additional troops in . . . . . . Well, he had to anyway.

In any event, I think Biden, the military, intelligence, etc., will rectify this. But, Christ, it didn't have to happen this way.

Plus, when one is making up excuses and pointing fingers, it's hard to keep the stories straight.

We’re not going to be spending the money to be there and we’re not putting more Americans into the meat grinder. That’s all I care about. Everything else is just noise from clout chasing media types who have formed an irrational attachment to Afghanistan. But this week has followed a similar pattern with regard to American media, particularly cable news, in that there’s very little actual reporting happening and hours upon hours of editorializing and speculation.

What the Monday Morning Quarterbacks everywhere seem to be unable to grasp is that there was always going to be a last week, a last day, a last hour, and a last flight and there’s no way that was going to be pretty and neat.
