I think, Republicans are pissed that they don't get their own "Dolchstosslegende".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stab-in-the-back_myth

The stab-in-the-back myth (German: Dolchstoßlegende, pronounced [ˈdɔlçʃtoːsleˌɡɛndə] (About this soundlisten), lit. 'dagger stab legend')[a] was an antisemitic conspiracy theory, widely believed and promulgated in right-wing circles in Germany after 1918. The belief was that the German Army did not lose World War I on the battlefield, but was instead betrayed by the civilians on the home front, especially Jews, revolutionary socialists who fomented strikes and labor unrest,[1] and other republican politicians who had overthrown the Hohenzollern monarchy in the German Revolution of 1918–1919. Advocates of the myth denounced the German government leaders who had signed the Armistice on 11 November 1918 as the "November criminals" (German: Novemberverbrecher).

When Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power in 1933, they made the legend an integral part of their official history of the 1920s, portraying the Weimar Republic as the work of the "November criminals" who had "stabbed the nation in the back" in order to seize power. The Nazi propaganda depicted Weimar as "a morass of corruption, degeneracy, national humiliation, ruthless persecution of the honest 'national opposition'—fourteen years of rule by Jews, Marxists, and 'cultural Bolsheviks', who had at last been swept away by the National Socialist movement under Hitler and the victory of the 'national revolution' of 1933".[2]

Historians inside and outside Germany unanimously reject the myth, pointing out the German Army was out of reserves, was being overwhelmed by the entrance of the United States into the war, and by late 1918 had lost the war militarily.[3][4]

It would have been such a nice talking-point: "We would have won the Afghanistan-war, but Biden and the Democrats and the Leftists sabotaged our troops and cost us the war. If it weren't for them, we would have won."

You can taste the rich thickness of the outrage.

Republicans would have loved to pin the blame for the retreat from Afghanistan somehow on Biden. Except that the retreat is based on a US-Taliban peace-deal that Trump negotiated and signed. The Republicans are clearly frustrated in their efforts to pin a scandal (any scandal will do, pretty-please) on Biden. And here we have the perfect foreign-policy disaster and yet somehow it's impossible to pin the blame on Biden.

I think, out of the whole disaster, this is what pains Republicans the most: The fact that they are unable to weaponize the disaster politically. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, wasted.

The fringe said the same thing about Vietnam back in the '80s and 90's.

That appears to be exactly what they are doing. The original dolchstosslegende wasn't real either. The only questions are, for what fraction of the population will it stick? And how much will it take to do the intended damage?

Propaganda brought the Nazis to power, propaganda lubricated the success of the Bolshevik 1917 Revolution - known at the time as an insurrection. These parties used projection, lied about the opposition, corrupted the legislatures and dismissed them at will when convenient or necessary to their cause, and used thuggery and worse to demoralize and disembowel opposition parties and politicians.

This is a known playbook.

Do not dismiss as irrelevant, or minor, or impossible. These are the tactics that have been used to overthrow ruling governments.

of Germany's WWI military dictatorship: (1) once they realized they really had lost the war, the military dictatorship promptly began pushing for a democratic civilian government, that would be responsible for negotiating the end of the war; and (2) once the democratic civilian government was negotiating the peace details, the former military dictatorship began to accuse them of having cost Germany the war by stabbing Germany in the back. In this way, the military dictatorship, responsible for the original fiasco, diverted popular blame for the mess onto the scapegoats they themselves had chosen; and set out to organize a counter-revolution to reinstate themselves in power. But today we remember Hitler's role in the Beer Hall Putsch and tend to forget Ludendorff's

They are taking control of the MSM and spreading lies about Biden's handling of this situation and are complementing TFG.

And the MSM is picking up on their lies and helping them spread them. The MSM is playing on the emotions of the American People and showing images and recounting situations on the ground in Afghanistan that make the whole thing look worse than it really is.

So the resultant outcome is that Biden's poll numbers are being hurt and that is really what the Repugs want to accomplish.

They want to do damage - anyway they can - to Biden's image.

They are as happy as can be that this is playing out this way for them.

And as always - we're just sitting back and letting them get away with it.

And to boot - there are some Dems out their that have joined in on the chorus and are badmouthing Biden.

They claim that they did "win" the election, but corrupt officials fixed the election by importing bamboo paper, treating marker pens in some strange way, using Italian satellites, dropping off food at election counts, making it possible for too many Black people to voter, and so on. And they're willing to accuse Republican officials of that too, if they don't fall in with the Big Lie.

Don't think that Republicans are interested these days in what is a "win" for the USA, like military operations; they're just interested in wins for Republicans.
